Could you take on the effective line management of this Leicester-based charity's central team to maximise efficiency, manage performance and empower employees?

If so, we want to speak to you.

About the business

This charity, based just 3 miles from Leicester city centre, delivers life-changing services to over 1,000 people in Leicestershire each week.

Their services include inclusion groups, accessible holiday facilities, accessible sailing and canal boats, support with direct payments and budgets, personalised domiciliary care, information and advice, counselling and employment support for people with disabilities.

The charity's heritage is just as impressive as their range of services. Founded in the late 1800s, they have continuously delivered inclusive community services to disabled people, breaking down the barriers faced for over 120 years.

About the role

The Operations Manager will take on the line management responsibility for the existing central team, including the coaching, development, recruitment, performance management, and empowerment of direct reports.

To maximise efficiency, the Operations Manager will also be expected to evaluate existing processes and procedures, planning accordingly to, where possible, improve quality and reduce the time taken to produce effective outcomes.

Accurate reporting forms part of the role's remit, as you'll be required to prepare and present reports on service performance periodically, highlighting potential areas for improvement and offering creative solutions to improve performance.

As the line manager for central functions, the Operations Manager will also work with leaders internally to instil a positive, supportive culture that aligns with the mission, vision and values of the charity.

Other responsibilities include:
  • Upholding excellent standards in service delivery by implementing quality control and assurance techniques
  • Managing the budget and financial activities within the central functions team
  • Producing and submitting bids, tenders or grant applications
  • Managing the day to day administration and maintenance of all office equipment to minimise the potential for disruption
  • Liaising with external IT partners to co-ordinate IT services and resolve issues
  • Setting up IT drives and accounts for new users as required
  • Managing all site maintenance contracts, renewal of leases and insurances
  • Maintaining supplies and records of assets in use
  • Take responsibility for the functions compliance with legal standards, contractual requirements and GDPR, carrying out all necessary audits, checks and processes.

About you

You will be a positive, proactive and highly organised manager of people and operations, with the ability to make effective contributions in leadership and direction of the operation and strong communications skills.

You will have experience of working in a commercial environment and have experience with or knowledge of high-quality, efficient administration processes. Experience with quality, compliance and auditing will be a great help to you in the role, as will a developed understanding of safeguarding.

Familiarity with standard IT systems and the ability to take on a basic level of IT administration within those systems would be advantageous.

A good understanding of bidding or tendering for contracts or grants would be highly advantageous.

Finally, experience in managing, analysing and preparing reports using data will put you in good stead of the position.

  • A salary of up to £26,000 (dependent on experience)
  • 20 days holiday plus bank holidays and 4 additional concessionary days (increasing with long service)
