Contract Type
Full Time
Secondary school in Skelmersdale seeking a DT Teacher to start in September on a temporary to permanent basis.

Your new company
This secondary school is based on the outskirts of Wigan and therefore easily accessible from both the M6 and M58 motorways. The school educates and supports SEND pupils and has an excellent reputation locally following significant growth over recent years. Having worked with the school for a number of years, Hays have always received excellent feedback from staff placed in the school, commenting on the dedication and supportive nature of the staff. Having personally recruited for the school for the last 4/5 years, I would highly recommend this role to a DT specialist seeking a school where they are able to further develop and also to progress their career.

Your new role
Joining the school on a long term basis, you will be responsible for the teaching of DT across KS3 and KS4, whilst also taking some KS3 English lessons. Your main priority will be the teaching of DT to mixed ability pupils and as the only DT specialist in the school, you will be fully responsible for the planning and preparation of lessons, delivery of lessons and the subsequent marking and assessment of pupils work. You will be supported by an English specialist in the teaching of KS3 English lessons and you will also be supported by SLT. As this is a long term role which could become permanent, you will be expected to also attend parents evenings and additional school functions.

What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful in securing this role, you will be a Qualified Teacher who has taught DT to KS4, however you do not need any English teaching experience. You will be available to start a role in September, as well as ideally seeking a permanent position, fully dedicating your experience and skill set to the school. Excellent behaviour management and relationship building skills are also essential, as well as ideally the desire to work in a SEND/SEMH environment.

What you'll get in return
In return, you will be paid to scale from day one of the assignment and will also have the opportunity to become a permanent member of staff in this successful and growing school. You will also be fully supported by your Hays Consultant and will join our Hays Refer a Friend Scheme where you could be entitled to receiving £250 in high street vouchers.
