A great opportunity has arisen for a Payroll and Accounts Assistant to join this growing, energetic, family firm based on the outskirts of Cheltenham, located in a quiet country environment but with an exciting buzz around it. This company is continuing to grow and is expanding its office area to accommodate an increase in headcount. This is a totally new role and would suit someone who wants to grow with the company and be exposed to other areas of the business .

Working in a small friendly and very sociable team you will quickly become an important member of the finance team, reporting to the current finance manager.

You should have a hands-on positive mind-set as well as have the ability to build constructive relationships with the rest of the team. With payroll as a primary function you should be a great multitasker and have a high attention to detail.

You will be able to work to strict deadlines (daily, weekly, monthly) and therefore will be able to work under pressure without a reduction in accuracy.

Ideally candidates will have accountancy/book keeping experience (AAT study supported). Excellent written and verbal communication is vital.

Initially the role will be heavily transactional and operational, so hard work, multitasking and attention to detail is critical.
  • Assist with weekly and monthly payrolls for 25 employees using Sage software
  • Processing weekly timesheet information
  • Processing purchase invoices, statement reconciliation and preparing payment runs
  • Reconciling customer payments and managing credit control
  • Manage internal accounts filing
  • Update and maintain accurate records where necessary
  • Assist in ad hoc reconciliation work as required by the Finance team

You will be working with a small and friendly Head Office team in this family business. As such, you have the opportunity to really shape the role and have your ideas listened to.
