Morgan McKinley are currently working with a well-established and rapidly expanding finance team East of Yeovil to recruit for a Senior Finance Assistant.

In this role you will be responsible for overseeing a small team of Finance Assistants who are responsible for day to day transactional finance. In your first few months you will receive extensive training on all bookkeeping duties, management accounts preparation and reporting. It will be imperative that you are able to fulfil the responsibilities personally of the finance assistants you will be managing. Once this initial training period is completed, you will be responsible for the bookkeeping, VAT, CIS, management accounts, statutory accounts and audit files for the business.

You will be expected to:
  • Ensure all finance functions and accounting records are maintained and management accounts prepared accurately and in a timely manner
  • Prepare CIS and VAT returns and ensure these are submitted on time
  • Review the bookkeeping and payment runs of the finance assistants and provide constructive feedback
  • Create statutory accounts with supporting year-end audit files where required for internal and external audit review
  • Ensure all entities are compliant with all relevant tax and company laws
  • Undertake project work as required
  • Ensure that your CPD record is well maintained
  • Provide holiday and sickness cover for other team members when required
  • Report to the Finance Team Supervisor

In order to be successful in this role you must be AAT Qualified (QBE will be considered if you have relevant experience) and ideally be studying towards ACCA/CIMA. You will have at least 3 years of finance/accounting/audit experience, ideally from practice but industry will still be considered. Ideally you will have previously management a small team, have experience of VAT and CIS. You must have excellent administration and communication skills, IT skills (including Excel) and be flexible and willing to learn.
