Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

To be part of a team providing technical support to customers and colleagues which includes:
  • Technical training and presentations, both within and outside of the organization.
  • Developing and providing lighting design and application recommendations.
  • Attending customer meetings to provide technical and application support.
  • Supporting project bids with presentations, documents, and proposals.
  • Making site visits relating to product issues, application recommendations and evaluating solutions.
  • Providing support and specialist assistance with the sales teams for Flux and other factored products.
  • Supporting international technical needs including in-market presentations.
  • Supporting analysis for factored group product opportunities.
  • Assisting in the formulation of price lists and pricing strategies.
  • Responding effectively to technical enquiries via email, phone and in person.
  • Liaise with internal customer support, operations, and technical engineering personnel.
  • Participate in managing and facilitating the enquiry system and evaluation of enquiry opportunities.

Person profile
  • A highly capable engineer with strong commercial skills.
  • Competent technical, design or engineering skills.
  • Self -driven, results orientated, and with a positive outlook and a clear focus on high quality standards.
  • An independent person with good organization and planning skills, who is capable of objectively assessing and improving their own performance.
  • Mature in outlook, credible, determined and comfortable when dealing with senior personnel, including to Director level.
  • Must be reliable, tolerant, and be able to work under pressure. The ability to be professional at all times and represent the company in a professional manner is a prerequisite.
  • Tenacity and the ability to see things through to the end goal are desired traits.
  • An opportunist who naturally looks for ways to create and explore avenues of business.
  • Must be able to work alone as well as work within a team.
  • When required, needs to be able to work extra hours to accommodate the business needs and which will include both UK and International travel.
  • Someone with a desire to be developed to be an 'all-rounder' in terms of their ability to provide technical support.

Specific Job needs
  • Must possess excellent communication skills both orally and written.
  • Must have a full driving license.
  • Must be able to attend meetings throughout the UK and be able to accommodate overseas travel.
  • Needs to be able to understand and create CAD drawings.
  • Ideally a recognised electrical industry qualification or a similar technical qualification or background.
  • Good knowledge of and proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic data base skills.
  • Must be able to understand business calculations and be competent to correspond via email in a professional manner.
  • Must be an excellent communicator and demonstrate a proficient level of negotiation skills.
  • One of the keys to success is to develop professional relationships with decision makers and so the ability to 'connect' with people and build networks should come naturally.

This client, based in Sutton, Surrey are a part of one of Europe's largest lighting design/manufacturing groups. They are recognised as an industry leader specialising in the design, manufacture and supply of robust, highly efficient lighting products specifically for applications in; Rail transportation (both overground and underground, Custodial facilities, Secure health facilities, Social housing, Urban exterior. Due to ongoing growth they are now looking to expand their engineering/design teams.
