Why is our eCommerce Engineering team the next step for you? The eCommerce development teams are responsible for the architecture, design, delivery and release of our core ecommerce gateways. The team consists of over 150 FTEs spread across the UK (Cambridge and Manchester) and Romania (Cluj and Bucharest).

Our two primary eCommerce gateways safely and securely handle several million transactions per day for our customers around the world and we release code into these platforms at least once every few weeks. Extremely high availability and performance is what we do, and you can expect over 800 transactions per second to flow through these gateways on a busy day.

Our teams, both internal and third party, not only enhance our existing high-performance platforms, but also build brand new agnostic services that will become part of the Worldpay payments ecosystem.
How will you contribute on a day-to-day basis? The key purpose of this role is to ensure that Worldpay third party eCommerce development teams are led to deliver successfully and to ensure successful delivery of engineering initiatives across all development teams. Your responsibility will be to lead and support our third party teams, valuing diversity and empowerment within them and striving for continual improvement as expected for truly agile working.

Reporting into the Head of eCom Platform Development, you'll provide them with a clear view of all activity, flagging issues and proposing effective solutions. You'll lead the relationship with our third party supplier, consisting of eight development managers across thirteen agile teams working in a SAFe operating model. You'll oversee the budget/ forecast for our third party relationship, approving the statement of work and working closely with the Engineering finance team. You'll work closely with third party account and development managers to ensure that resourcing and prioritisation issues are dealt with in a timely manner, and work with internal risk, compliance and security teams to ensure that group risks relating to third party engagement are actively managed and effective controls are properly implemented. You'll lead and contribute to engineering led initiatives and ensure that software is developed following Worldpay's best practices and security principles
What will make you the right fit for the team? You'll have a proven track record of leading high performing engineering teams and sufficient level of technical background to provide highly-credible leadership to development teams and to be able to accurately and objectively evaluate complex project risks and issues. You'll have strong stakeholder management and people leadership skills, the ability to drive change, and a great track record of delivery in a similar environment. You'll have experience with Agile methods and tools; SAFe, Scrum and Kanban, as well as knowledge of CI/ CD tooling. Experience with financial budgets and forecasts in a technology environment and a technical background in software development is ideal. Previous management of third parties and off-shore teams are ideal, as well as knowledge of payments or the financial technology industry. How is Worldpay changing the world?
