A primary school that we work very closely with is looking to recruit a Learning Support Assistant on a full time basis, a position that begins in September, immediately after the summer break.

The role involves working with children with a lower learning ability than the year group they are in and includes Speech & Language and Intervention.

This is a school that prides itself on creating a stimulating learning environment and one where the children look forward to going to every day.

In addition, it is recognised that to have a place at the heart of the local community, the school needs to boast a curriculum suited to 21st century, one that prepares children to one day become pro-active national and global citizens.

Responsibilities of the role:
  • Supporting children of a lower learning ability than the year group they are in
  • Being adept within Speech & Language and/or Intervention
  • Developing a rapport with children and utilising an empathetic approach
  • To support children across all areas of learning with a variety of needs while also allowing them independence
  • Liaising with the relevant class teachers and SENCO when required

Requirements of the candidate:
  • To be pro-active, understanding, empathetic and patient
  • A basic understanding of Speech and Language and/or Intervention
  • To be punctual
  • Understanding of Safeguarding
  • Ability to communicate effectively with children
  • Being able to work full time
  • Having a DBS on the online update service or the willingness to complete a new DBS application
