University Operations Manager

Our client, a leading university are looking to recruit a University Operations Manager to help coordinate and administer day-to-day operational support for the Department of Nutritional Sciences and the Department of Diabetes, two of the five Departments under the School.

The post will be responsible for a range of business administration areas, including personal assistant support to the Heads of Department and provision of operational advice and guidance to senior academic colleagues on university policies and processes. As part of the School Professional Services Team, the post will work closely with two School Senior Operations Officers, to ensure activities related to research grant management, recruitment and staffing administration, and financial processes are fully administered.

* Location: Waterloo

* Pay: £17.52 - £20 per hour

* Start Date: ASAP

* Type: Temporary

* Duration: 3 Months

Job Description:

* To provide efficient operational support to staff and students in the School working closely with the School's core team to support staff recruitment campaigns, implementation of Human Resource processes, oversight of School budgets, processing claims and invoices.

* To support and deputise for the post holder's line manager/s and where appropriate the School's Senior Operations Officer (HR & Finance).

* To provide advice and guidance and, where appropriate, training on University policies, processes and where required, source information and support for colleagues to facilitate their work.

* To use, maintain and promote university-wide systems, ensuring efficient processes are in place to maintain high quality data, providing training to colleagues as required in order to ensure accurate data are maintained and accessible.

* To have a broad and in-depth knowledge of polices, processes and systems, work with all School/Faculty staff to solve problems and provide solutions, efficiently and effectively.

* To prepare communications, draft presentations, briefing documents and background materials as required.

* To prepare and support meetings, boards, and committees, including the coordination and distribution of papers and taking notes or minutes, as required.

* To support the planning and organisation of events and projects, including visiting delegations.

* To forge relationships with colleagues in the School, Faculty and university, in order to contribute to process development and adoption of best practice.

* To participate in cross-Faculty and university projects and initiatives.


* Harness a proactive and professional approach to work.

* Ability to manage a varied workload and to prioritise effectively.

* Experience of working in a Higher Education setting.

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

* Ability to meet deadlines.
