Lead Developer - Dev ops - node.js - dev ops - node.js - dev ops - node js - Contract to Permanent (perm salary £65k plus loads of benefits)

UK-based online company we are about to embark upon a major technological transformation, revamping parts of our current platform to ensure we can meet business ambitions and are now seeking a Lead Developer to join the Development Team and help us on this journey.

Reporting to the Development Manager, this role consists of the following:

•Leading a work-stream/team, owning the deliverables, and ensuring solutions

•designed and built to a high standard.

•Working with the Development Manager to ensure agreed work as part of a sprint is

•being carried out across the team and delivered on time.

•Implementing solutions across our technology stack - this is a hands-on role!

•Mentoring/pairing with other developers to assist in knowledge and skills transfer.

•Defining solutions and liaising with colleagues in the Product team to establish the

•best way of delivering the work.

•Promoting a culture of quality within the team via:

·Emphasis on developer testing and practices such as TDD

·Clean code, refactoring, SOLID and related disciplines

·Code reviews

·Continuous integration/deployment

•Championing best practice across the entire team.

•Fostering a culture of technical improvement within the team (e.g. via show-and tells, demos, proof-of-concepts, pet projects or similar).

•Playing a key role in technical and architectural discussions regarding the longer term vision for development, paying attention to:

·The need to rationalise and simplify the company's technical estate

·Accelerate the move towards a more scalable architecture

·Paying off our technical debt

Our technology is a mixture of a well-established LAMP solution, complimented by recently built AWS Lambda's implemented in Node.js. The solution is hosted entirely within AWS and we are increasing our use of AWS services as we progressively move our current solution to a cleaner, more manageable architecture.

Essential Skills and Experience

•Demonstrable experience of playing a technical lead or lead developer role for at

least 2 years.

•5+ years of experience working as a Developer in an agile environment.

•Experience of being a Full Stack Developer in a commercial environment.

•Some expertise in building scalable, complex, fault-tolerant, secure solutions.

•Experience of working with Node.js.

•Knowledge and use of DevOps practices and how they can be employed to improve

•developer productivity and code quality.

•Experience of designing and implementing RESTful API's.

•A good appreciation of development best-practices, including SOLID, design

•patterns, clean code, TDD and CI/CD

•Good familiarity with other AWS services, especially the API Gateway, DynamoDB,

•SNS, SQS and S3.

•The ability to communicate technical concepts in a lucid, structured fashion to colleagues.

•A strong advocate for clean architecture.

Desirable Skills

•Familiarity with the Serverless framework

•Familiarity with AWS Lambda.

•Knowledge of the LAMP stack.

•Exposure to mobile application development.
