Cathedral Appointments are currently recruiting an experienced Product Design Engineer manufacturer in Chard, Somerset. The Product Design Engineer will be working in the busy design team, designing and developing innovative products for both residential and commercial clients. The design team are involved with New Product Development from concept to production, as well as supporting current/existing products in terms of enhancements to designs. All applicants to this role must have previous experience where injection moulding and working with plastic is evident.

Key Responsibilities:

·Provide significant Technical input into all aspects of design work that falls within your area of expertise

·Create detailed designs to meet company/project requirements

·Represent the company at meetings with other internal and external stakeholders, and to

·Ensure that attention to detail, rectification of design error and cost control at all times

·Be involved in business improvement projects

Required Skills and Experience:

·Design experience for high volume and low volume products in low cost environments is essential.

·Minimum HNC, but preferably degree level qualification in Product Design or Mechanical Engineering

·3D CAD experience (SolidWorks preferable) is essential.

·Strong concept development and prototyping skills.

·Experience in one or more of the following areas: design for manufacture of injection moulded, rotational moulded or sheet metal parts (including welded and automated assembly) is essential.

·Proven track record of product development and introduction to the marketplace.

·Strong communication skills, ability to pay meticulous attention to detail, team working and collaboration, innovation and interpersonal awareness.

·A natural problem solver, with an eye for creating solutions/fixing problems.
