The role - Science Graduate Teaching Assistant

This Havering based Academy are seeking an individual to undertake a Science Graduate Teaching Assistant role whereby you will mentor students across KS3 and KS4.

This role would ideally suit an individual wanting to gain more experience prior to training to teach. You will gain invaluable school based experience so that if you decide to train to teach you will have the excellent foundation to build upon.

The role is long term, either starting immediately or in September, lasting until July 2020. Upon completing your year as a Science Graduate Teaching Assistant you will have the opportunity to join the school's outstanding teacher training whereby you will gain Qualified Teacher Status.

Person specification - Science Graduate Teaching Assistant

To be successful in this position you must be a focused and resilient Science graduate who has a desire to work in, and a passion for, education. You will have at least a 2:1 degree within a science discipline and a good academic background to match. Previous experience of working with young people is ideal.

You will specifically support the Science department and help with preparing practical lab lessons as well as theory lessons. Your main role will be to work with students 1:1/small groups and as your confidence grows you will begin to cover some lessons. Intervention sessions are important and a key focus is to ensure targeted students make appropriate progress.
