Senior Claims Handler / Fee Earner - Horwich, Bolton - Pre Litigated Credit Hire


The Senior Fee Earner role sits within our very successful pre litigated credit hire department. The Senior Fee Earner will work with their Team Leader to work on delegated tasks which will support the management of the team. They will also act as a subject matter expert for specific Credit Hire Organisations. The Senior Fee Earner's responsibility is to drive settlements and behaviours within the team to their maximum potential whilst ensuring fee earner(s) meet their objectives, targets and continuously improve the quality of their work.


·Monitoring the caseload/workload of team members in line with agreed standards

·Distributing files or tasks in line with Keoghs 'Know Your Opponent' strategies and values

·To be the subject matter expert for specific Credit Hire Organisations and be primarily responsible for the development of relationships between Keoghs and those CHOs

·Pro-actively seek data and trends relating to CHO behaviour and present findings, together with solution offerings

·To introduce and implement new working methods and techniques to drive a proactive approach to settlement whilst ensuring consistency of approach and application by working collaboratively with Technical Directors

·Assisting Client Relationship Manager with any Client requests for trends/improvements or settlement reviews

·Implementation of new strategies to change the behaviours within the market which then positively increases the productivity of the fee earners within their team

·Continuously improving the quality of both their work and the work of their team, as well as conducting Financial Authority audits as required, giving feedback to team members for improvement

·To be the escalation point for specific cases and CHOs which will ensure that all cases are progressed and brought to a conclusion quickly and efficiently.

·To manage a case load of higher value and more complex files which are pursued to settlement as quickly as possible in line with current legal doctrine and case law

·To ensure compliance with the SRA Code of Conduct 2011


·Professional qualification preferred but a good standard of education acceptable

·Minimum 2 years' experience in a credit hire environment preferred but not essential, albeit technical credit hire knowledge a prerequisite

·Experience of managing B2B relationships preferred but not essential

·Ability to nurture and encourage team members to give their best performance

·Excellent listening and verbal communication skills

·Ability to relate to people as individuals and understand their particular needs in terms of direction, delegation, learning style etc.

·Ability to influence others

·Ability to remain calm under pressure

·Ability to take constructive feedback and set both personal and team goals for continuous improvement

·Ability to remain fair and objective at all times

·An understanding of the Civil Litigation process and the ability to identify the correct cases to run as test litigation
