The head of a client PRU is looking for an experienced TA with experience working with behaviour. The school caters for pupils aged 5-16 years who have SEMH / SEN. We have exciting new opportunities available at the school as they undergo expansion into a new state of the art provision specifically for pupils with special educational needs. The head wishes to recruit full time Behaviour Mentors to work within our secondary phase (ages 11-16 years).

The pupils have been referred from mainstream schools due to various needs including behavioural, low numeracy, literacy and SEMH. They have wonderful personalities and enjoy the benefit of an engaging, hands-on learning style and adapted curriculum. The school believes that every student can realise their true potential with the right support and teaching. Therefore, it sets high standards for both pupils and staff.

The role involves supporting teachers with behaviour in class or during sporting activities, as well as leading some 1:1 or small group mentoring sessions. A background in sport and the ability to contribute to the school's sports programme would be beneficial.

The successful candidate must:
  • Have proven experience working with pupils with SEMH / SEN in a school or alternative provision
  • Be resilient, show enthusiasm and commitment
  • Have good organisational skills
  • Be a good communicator who can work closely with your colleagues, external agencies and parents.
  • Have good literacy and numeracy skills
  • Have good behaviour management skills
  • Be able to work on your own initiative
  • Have a background in sport (desired)

If you feel you have any of the skills shown above please feel free to contact Matt our SEN specialist, we would love to hear from you.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see faqs for details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.

Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
