Proposals Engineer

Our client is a leading engineering and project services company who provide bespoke solutions across several marine related sectors. Due to recent growth they now require a Proposals Engineer to work from their busy North East office. The company delivers bespoke and complex technical solutions to client's equipment requirements. Project delivery places heavy reliance on internal and external partners and a global supply network. The cost-estimation and proposal development process must reflect this.

The Role:
  • Assist in the winning of new contracts
  • Provide robust estimates (BOC / Hours / Schedule) for new opportunities
  • Develop professional proposal documentation in line with customer requirements and corporate guidelines

  • Contribute towards business winning campaigns by developing compliant bids in response to client ITT's.
  • Co-ordinate the bid team and external stakeholders (technically and commercially) to ensure that a winning solution is developed, and that output is delivered on time.
  • Ensure all bid information is compliant and reviewed in line with client requirements.
  • Support gateway reviews and management approval processes
  • Effectively manage output from other functions (technical and commercial) during the bid phase.
  • Liaise with the Engineering Department to develop winning technical proposals.
  • Liaise with the Supply Chain Department to obtain supplier quotations.
  • Liaise with the Projects Department to develop realistic project schedules.
  • Generate accurate costing of projects by collaborating with all the functional groups involved in project execution.
  • Generate bid plans and effectively execute.
  • Develop technical and commercial proposal documents utilising comprehensive templates.
  • General upkeep of department documentation (hard and digital).

The Person:
  • Sound technical education [degree or equal]
  • Ability to review client invitations to tender (technical and commercial)
  • Ability to communicate on director and 'shop floor' level
  • Background in project execution and cost management
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and willingness to work out of office hours when required
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office package (Excel / Word)
  • Working towards sound understanding of project planning / bid planning (including Microsoft project)
