Job Description As a Management Accountant within Finance you will be a key member of a growing finance team and will have the opportunity to progress your career in finance and accounting whilst surrounded by brilliant and creative tech-focused people. So if you are a Finance professional who is keen to get closer to working within a Tech environment - this is the job for you. What? Your time will be largely be spent business partnering our Tech team - sitting amongst them each day. The Octopus tech team being a team of 50+ individuals and managing a total tech budget of circa £15m. You will be working closing with our head of IT and their management team to ensure they manage their annual budget and get the most value out of it. This is a particularly high profile role within Octopus, ensuring we are investing our Tech budget to create the best Tech environment possible to the wider Octopus business. The team is involved in building inhouse tech using our inhouse development team as well as sourcing technology from SAAS based providers. You will also be pivotal in pulling together the annual budget each year - liaising with all members of the Tech team to ensure all their future planned activities are duly captured. You will be responsible for the monthly tech report which is included within the Group management accounts. This also includes reporting against all projects budgets - for projects approved by our internal Projects Committee as chaired by our CEO. You will also liaise with internal and external audit as and when required. Additionally you will work with our external tax advisors to ensure we take advantage of any R&D tax breaks available to us. Qualifications How? First and foremost, we are looking for somebody who will be a great fit. You will likely be newly or up to 1-2 years post-qualified and have solid knowledge and skills which are sharpening and developing every day (and we'll make sure they continue to do so!). Burning love for excel and spreadsheets and a constant hunger to look for ways to improve how you approach your role, automating your reporting etc
