Strategic Business Change Director Role Purpose Reporting to the Head of SBO Coordination Office , this is a key global leadership position responsible for leading critical coordination and orchestration activity across the Global Commercial Banking Strategic Business Objectives Programme (SBO). The SBO’s main purpose is to transform and digitise the business, delivering material improvements for our customers and colleagues. CMBs strategic business outlook will determine the businesses change priorities for 2019-2022, accelerate our digital and streamlining strategy across our markets . The role holder is expected to be a ‘trusted advisor’ to CMB Executive leadership engaging with programmes identifying opportunities, constructively challenging conventional thinking, and helping to shape, prioritise and make trade-offs which drive colleague, operational and financial outcomes. The role holder will be responsible for driving best practice and ensuring strong change management disciplines and will have specific areas of accountability for the strategic programmes they are engaging with, regional deployment associated with those programmes and coordination office capability areas. This includes ensuring that there is clear linkage to benefits and outcomes as well as ensuring that there are disciplines in place to monitor progress against benefits and operational KPIs; including stepping in to the programmes to question and challenge at the most senior of levels. The role holder needs to be energised , ambitious and high performing change agent who will partner major change initiatives in scoping and delivery of large scale, complex, global strategic change programmes across the business; ensuring investment readiness and ongoing portfolio health while minimizing bureaucracy. Role Deliverables The key strategic deliverables for which the role is responsible for are: Partnering with SBIs in strategic planning and coordination of the SBO change portfolio, with oversight and tracking of spend, resources, risks and benefit realisation. Using effective risk management strategies to ensure that risks, issues and dependencies are continuously accessed and communicated with clear mitigation actions and owners in place. Engaging with senior business stakeholders across SBO leadership and collaborate with HOST sub-functions, ensuring deliberate and efficient delivery of CMB’s change agenda. Being be a business partner to Global CMB and CMB leadership, to identify and create opportunities to enhance customer, colleague, operational and financial outcomes where these arise. Provide timely status/performance updates to relevant stakeholders (progress vs. objectives including costs, quality, scope, and timing) as part of the overall orchestration process of the coordination office. Support development of robust business cases, managed in line with agreed financial metrics from investments to detailed benefits and which link to overall finances of the business. Seek opportunities to improve ways of working with a forward-thinking mind-set, in line with the Group’s values and strategy. Qualifications Knowledge & Experience Outstanding understanding of HSBC Group structures, values, behaviours, processes and objectives Strong intimate knowledge of CMB’s business model â€" i.e. the customer proposition, the channels and operations, and the key financial performance drivers. Good working knowledge of functional area in an operational or consulting capacity A broad, enterprise-wide view of the business and varying degrees of appreciation for strategy, capabilities, enabling technologies, and governance Strong knowledge of the external environment â€" regulatory, political, competitors etc. Outstanding knowledge of Transformation â€" functionally, operationally and financially Proven experience of positive, challenging interactions with Senior Executives across the group Proven ability in working across multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural diverse work environments Strong analytical background and proven ability in analytical rigor, including being able to contextualize data into business activities and conclusions Proven ability in successfully identifying, designing and implementing large-scale, complex global / regional change initiatives At HSBC we look to enable our employees to better balance their work / life priorities and have the flexibility required to meet challenging needs as they progress through different life stages.
