We are currently seeking a Direct Buyer to join a global client of ours in Eastleigh on a permanent basis and manage the raw material spend for one of their Business Units.

The selected candidate will have a number of roles and responsibilities, which will include:

* Lead and own all key supplier relationships for the Business Unit, building strong, professional relationships.

* Identify innovative opportunities from the market to enhance product offering, working in collaboration with the engineering department.

* Mitigate any risk in the supply chain by identifying single source materials and approving new sources of supply through established or new suppliers.

* Raise purchase orders and negotiate contracts on behalf of the company for the supply of specified materials and goods, ensuring accurate SAP records are maintained.

* Provide monthly reporting to Purchasing Manager and undertake analysis of adverse price variations by focussing on product cost drivers and cost reduction opportunities.

* Strategically maintain competition amongst suppliers through communication, negotiation and competitive tendering.

* Provide statistical purchasing data as required.

* Manage and report on supplier On Time Delivery and Right First-Time performance data, highlighting supply risk analysis and action plans to improve performance.

* Support the Purchasing Manager including preparation of a Management Plan in line with Company procedures.

* Take ownership of all day to day commercial issues with suppliers, resolving these appropriately.

* Review departmental processes and procedures and make recommendations to improve.

Essential skills, experience and attributes:

* Educated to degree level in a technical or engineering discipline or hold or working towards achieving their MCIPS qualification

* Extensive experience in a manufacturing purchasing role working alongside engineering, design and logistics.

* Sound level of commercial acumen and excellent analytical skills.

* Excellent working knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Office.

* Excellent communication and negotiating skills.

* Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and suppliers at all levels.
