Lloyd Recruitment Services are currently working with a reputable leisure organisation based on the outskirts of Oxted who are in search of an enthusiastic Assistant Food and Beverage Manager to deliver and uphold excellent service standards within the catering and beverage operation. Assisting with the day-to-day running of the department, including departmental administration and all other required duties.
Primary role:
* Support the Manager in the day-to-day running of all the bars and food service areas by providing visitors with the highest possible standards of food and beverage service, and ensuring correct procedures are adhered to
* Ensure that all the interior and designated exterior areas of the premises are presented and maintained in a clean and tidy condition
* Leading by example, coach and train all bar staff to ensure the traditional service standards are maintained and where possible exceeded
* Take joint responsibility for the care, custody and control of all bar stock, equipment and monies, ensuring their physical security and accountability
* Deputise for the Manager in their absence by taking responsibility for the department's administration, including but not limited to: stock ordering, quality control of draught beverages, cellar management, rota planning and resource management, stock take admin and stock taker liaison
* Support the Manager in all back office administrative procedures
* Act as the first point of contact for visitors and guests
* Liaise with society organisers to ensure we understand their requirements and needs
* Handle telephone enquiries and restaurant bookings
* Help achieve departmental sales targets by engaging in and encouraging staff to upsell products discretely and effectively
Secondary role:
* Provide the link to Management on all matters of staff training, welfare and morale
* Coach all bar staff on efficient methods of beverage dispense with a focus on minimising waste to produce maximum product yield, and monitor bar staff to ensure these practices are maintained
* The maintenance and security of the premises within their areas of responsibility
* Assist the Manager with additional responsibilities
* Instruct bar staff appropriately to achieve the best possible standards of hygiene in the bar and food service areas
* Oversee bar staff in their work to ensure their time is used efficiently and productively
* Ensure all accidents within the premises are dealt with accordingly and recorded in the companies accident handbook
* Ensure that all bar staff understand and adhere to all relevant Health and Safety legislation, enforcing safe working practices
What you will need:
* Previous experience as a bar supervisor, assistant manager or manager
* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with people from a variety of backgrounds or professions
* Ability to work unsupervised and able to prioritise workloads
* Results oriented
* A friendly and approachable personality
* The ability to cope well under pressure
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office
* ABCQ or other cellarmanship qualification would be an advantage
* Driven to provide great service
* Able to lead by example
(Includes shift work - 40 hours per week)
Salary up to £22,000 DOE plus excellent benefits
