RSA is looking to hire a new Information Technology/Systems Category Manager to sit within the Procurement team in either London or Horsham. You will be responsible for a number of business-centric projects that are key to delivering on various change management agendas as well as ensuring the various departments in RSA have a full strength IT/IS offering.

This role includes leading the category planning, strategic sourcing and management of spend (including supplier and contract management) for assigned category area(s), as determined by the Head of Procurement and the procurement leadership team.

A Category Manager at RSA is a role that exists to help deliver measurable efficiencies in a challenging economic climate through a professional service provided to the rest of the organisation. Further, this role will also include developing the procurement community within RSA, providing a flexible and creative support to transform operations, exhibiting high standards of corporate governance and establishing RSA as a leading practice organisation in the field of procurement operations.

This role will directly report into a Senior Category Manager which in turn will report into the Head of Procurement. The post holder will be based in an office environment and may be required to attend evening meetings or other out-of-hours events on occasion as based on business needs.


As an experienced Procurement professional, you will be expected to fully imbed yourself in RSA over the first 3-4 months so that within a full year, you are managing and running projects by assuming full responsibilities with a full range of internal stakeholders and delivering on business-critical work.

This role involves interacting and working closely with the procurement leadership while also working very closely with senior stakeholders in the business/service function within RSA. The Category Manager will also manage the sourcing and analytics team on a projects basis (when required for specific project or business work) and use their expertise in development and execution of agreed category strategies in alignment with the business objectives.

Main responsibilities are as below:
*Proactive leadership and accountability for all procurement activity and management of third party spend within the allocated categories. This will include professional responsibility for securing the efficiencies in allocated categories within an agreed timeframe and with agreed targets in place
*Developing, agreeing with the leadership and managing the execution of the procurement plan and strategy for categories in scope as determined by the procurement leadership team.
*Acting as RSA's procurement expert in respect of the categories the postholder is responsible for
*Providing guidance , direction and strategic advice relating to procurement planning and execution for relevant category to stakehoders at all levels across RSA UK
*Developing a savings measurement and tracking methodology specific to the category in scope and ensuring ongoing management and reporting of the same to deliver target efficiencies
*Leading and executing Procurement Projects related to the relevant category of spend and being responsible for both making and influencing strategic and commercial decisions of major significance to RSA's finances and delivery of services
*Management of all resources relating to projects for which the postholder is responsible at any given time, including staff management within procurement and business and/or service departments, insofar as they are allocated to the projects concerned
*Responsible for setting up and maintaining an accurate and up to date contract register/database for all categories within the scope of the role
*Direct accountability for accurate and timely management information, including ensuring compliance with relevant procedures for governance, risk and control and assuring the quality of all required information for the Procurement and/or Executive leadership
*Forecasting, planning, including preparing the business case and reporting for complex procurement project support, including any information required from external market sources
*Pro-active engagement with the busines and/or service functions to plan and support procurement activity, supplier relationship and performance management and contract management
