Our client is a leading manufacturing and distribution company within the Blackburn area. They are looking for a Purchase Ledger clerk to support the team covering a 6-month secondment leave.

Working with suppliers across the UK, your role will be to provide a purchase ledger function for the business, to ensure suppliers are paid in a timely manner.

You will be required to be adaptable to learning new skills when required and assist with finance administration on occasions.

As aPurchase Ledger clerkyour role will include:
  • Posting Invoices onto AX as invoice journals when no PO required
  • Matching invoices to raised PO's on AX
  • Raising weekly/month end BACS payments (part of rota)
  • Preparing and requesting of manual payments to be raised by the Cashier for none GBP payments and urgent GBP payments
  • Allocating payments on supplier accounts
  • Reconciling supplier statements
  • Setting up new suppliers following the "Prospect set up"
  • Dealing with telephone queries
  • Processing orders for GB PTY (Australia) as required
  • Holiday cover for the Cashier including all banking processes
  • Opening post - as per office rota
  • Ad hoc analysis and reporting

The successful Purchase Ledger clerk must:
  • Purchase ledger experience essential
  • Experience of using Microsoft Dynamics AX - would be an advantage
  • Be able to use Excel to a good/advanced standard
  • Have good communication skills, both verbal & written
  • Be organised and accurate with the ability to plan workload in an effective manner to ensure all deadlines are met
  • Referring issues to the relevant line manager/budget holder where required
  • Highlighting potential efficiencies in the Purchase Ledger function
  • Be able to build good working relationships both internally and externally
  • To have a pleasant, professional attitude at all times to both internal & external customers
  • Have a flexible approach in ways of working to accommodate ad hoc tasks and cover for other members of the team.
