Affinity Workforce Solutions are currently recruiting for a Speech and Language Therapist for a school based in the Guildford area. The school are a learner and family centred academy supporting the complex needs of up to 100 day and residential pupils and students. They are looking to appoint an individual who can provide support to young people with a primary diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) who may also have additional needs relating to;
  • Speech, Language & Communication Difficulties.
  • Specific Learning Difficulties.
  • Moderate Learning Difficulties.
  • Social, Emotional & Mental Health Difficulties.

The school look for people who are kind, trustworthy and excellent communicators. A belief in all young people being gifted and able to achieve high outcomes and independence is also something we look for when recruiting. You will need to work well with others, see opportunities rather than problems and have a professional and positive approach to your work.

The right candidate for this role must understand and demonstrate the importance of holistic pedagogy - working closely with teaching staff at the school, to help integrate therapy and learning objectives as well as instructing and supporting teaching staff in delivering therapy programmes/groups, sometimes with the use of specialist equipment.

The post holder will join an already established team of Speech and Language Therapists (SaLT) who are jointly responsible for providing a therapy service to the school. The team at hand already work excellently in partnership with teachers and support staff in their child centred classrooms, and they wish to appoint someone who can be incorporated into this team spirit easily.

Job Role;
  • To accept clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of pupils, and to organise this efficiently and effectively with regards to clinical priorities and use of time.
  • To carry out clinical observations, informal and formal assessments of children and analyse the results reflecting on own knowledge and experience and seeking more specialist advice as required.
  • To plan and implement child-centred individual and/or group interventions in association with education staff.
  • To monitor, evaluate and modify intervention in order to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of intervention.
  • To liaise with all team members and family/carers in order to provide a coordinated approach and ensure speech and language therapy input is integrated into learner's objectives.

Affinity Workforce Solutions are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share that commitment. The appointment is subject to pre-appointment checks including an enhanced DBS check and references.
