Engineering Manager

Our EY Innovations team in London is looking to grow their ever-expanding team. As Engineering Manager, you will be leading a team of developers, devops, quality assurance and domain experts. This team operates like a startup and goes from idea to production at an incredibly fast pace. The role requires you to work closely with design, product and the business to define the product requirements, roadmap and strategy. We are looking for a highly technical and effective team leader that can communicate strategically across functional lines and with stakeholders. You will be accountable for the technical output of the team, hiring, and responsible for defining work plans as well as mentoring and coaching engineers. This position is full-time and based in London, UK.

Your key responsibilities
  • Lead ideation, development, and launch of Talent Management products and services that delight customers
  • Define product strategy and roadmap, and create shared vision across the company by building consensus on priorities
  • Acquire and allocate resources
  • Manage personnel development
  • Managing advancement and deployment of a variety of technologies and tools
  • Lead a team of engineers to design, build, test, deploy, maintain and improve technology solutions for new products and services
  • Lead technical discussions, be a subject matter expert, and have strategic influence
  • Be deeply technical and work closely with engineers to define technical architecture of products
  • Act as a technical advisor to project managers, engineers and business analysts
  • Rapidly solve problems and make decisions
  • Be a great facilitator for the team to get to resolution

Skills and attributes for success
  • 3-5+ years of experience managing a software engineering team
  • 5+ years of experience as a Full Stack software engineer
  • Experience with multiple programming languages and technologies
  • Love creating things from scratch and operating in an ambiguous environment. Be driven and self-directed.
  • Experience in leading engineering for startups or major products
  • Hands on development experience across multiple technologies.
  • Ability to work to short and tight deadlines
  • Previous experience managing offshore and remote workers.
  • Works well in large corporate environments and matrix decision making
  • Able to quickly learn new platforms and stacks
  • Comfortable with uncertainty and a high-paced dynamic environment
