The Entertainer is the largest family-owned toy retailer with over 165 stores in the UK and a rapidly growing online and international business. We have opened over 30 new UK stores in the past two years and we have ambitious plans for further growth. As part of the brands International growth strategy we have recently acquired the Spanish toy retailer Poly which has seen an addition of 55 shops to the retail estate in Spain. Most recently we completed the acquisition of the Early Learning Centre, which will see an addition of 400 shops internationally and 78 stores in the UK. We are now looking for a Risk Manager to join the risk and legal team within a regional role. Working closely with the Head of Risk the Risk Manager will offer first line support for stores, field and fulfilment teams for safety, security, cash handling, support and instruction. As Risk Manager you will be responsible for conducting audits that incorporate all elements of risk, developing policies and procedures and will deliver training to store teams and managers. Our Risk Manager will also deal with external suppliers and enforcement authorities as required. This is a regional field based role, with a requirement for frequent visits to the store estate to carry out audits, risk assessments and investigations. You will need to have a base to cover a region across the South West, Bristol, Swindon and Taunton, the Midlands and the M4 corridor towards Reading and Oxford.

Responsibilities - Risk Manager

- Develop and assist in producing company policies, procedures and training documents.

- Conduct and complete Risk Assessments for store and fulfilment based activities.

- Conduct store based audits and report on Store Safety and Security Standards and report back to stores, Area Managers, Regional Managers and Head of Risk.

- Investigate reports of accidents, dangerous occurrences and security incidents, determining root causes and supply recommendations to reduce the risks.

- Record and monitor accident statistics to determine any patterns and areas for improvement

- Advise and support all departments with regard to Health and Safety and Security.

- Monitor and advise on shrinkage best practice following on from annual store stock takes.

- Analyse information and reports to determine unusual or suspicious patterns or behaviours in stores

- Investigate cash losses aid prevention of cash losses and poor practices through the estate.

- Deliver training and support to new store teams and new store managers

- Support the Area and Regional Managers with store visits, risk surgeries and regular communication

Required Skills - Risk Manager

- Minimum of three years retail management experience gained within a similar high SKU retailer.

- Previous experience investigating shrinkage and internal fraud within stores

- Ability to train retail management teams around all aspects of store risk

- Current UK driver license holder with a minimum of one year experience

- Qualified to NEBOSH General Certificate would be beneficial although training will be provided

- Significant leadership and project management experience

- Ability to work with and protect confidential information

- Logical thinker with ability to analyse numerical and written data

- Strong investigative skills with ability to identify risk and implement effective solutions

- Strong organisational, time management and presentation skills

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to ensure quality communication and information are provided to all levels of management.

- Computer literate with intermediate knowledge in MS word and Excel.

Comfortable working autonomously you will understand and embrace the concepts of confidentiality and compliance, essential traits of the Risk Managers role. Our Risk Manager will be commercially astute and an advocate for change, able to add immediate value and will enjoy working within a fast moving and demanding role.

You may have gained your previous experience as a profit protection officer, H&S Officer, Risk Assessment Executive or a Regional Risk Auditor.
