Project Manager or Project Engineer


We currently have a number an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager or Project Engineer to join our Marine Geotechnical service line.

As a project Manager/Engineer in our Falmouth office you will support the operational preparation and delivery of marine geotechnical drilling projects by acting as a local point of contact for specific drilling vessel assets. You will collaborate with client facing Project Managers and Operations teams across multiple Fugro offices to ensure projects are planned and managed in safely and efficiently with a focus on operational excellence.

Key responsibilities:

• Ensure our contribution to projects are in accordance with Fugro standards.

• Contribute to project meetings, e.g. handover, kick-off, HIRA, progress, wrap-up.

·Agree, plan and monitor the delivery of our responsibilities, e.g. crewing and equipment

·Prepare / collate component project documentation, e.g. method statements, risk assessments, procedures, etc.

• Monitor project activities and performance - pro-actively support the lead Project Manager, site team offshore and Operations teams to deliver fieldworks as per contract.

·Conduct incident investigations and closeouts as required.

• Contribute to proposals from technical and administrative viewpoints.

• Ensure project contractual and commercial mechanisms are in place and administered, e.g. subcontract agreements, work orders, invoices, etc.

• Act as relief / cover for other team members as required

• Offer support to other Project Managers or Operations teams to help with workload, deliver a specific work package or contribute to strategic / longer term initiatives.

• Contribute to vessel mobilisations / demobilisations / crew changes where required.

• Periodically visit sites / vessel for self-development and employee engagement purposes.

• Engage with suppliers / subcontractors / agents and develop relationships to receive higher quality services and/or lower costs.

• Pro-actively explore opportunities to develop own understanding of marine geotechnical activities.

• Help evolve the team's culture and its relationships with the wider world.

Experience required:

Candidates should ideally originate from one of the following backgrounds:

·A geology, mining or engineering graduate.

·An established project manager with an operations bias.

·An experienced offshore professional with 3+ years' experience in marine geotechnical or geophysical fieldworks.

Experience of marine geotechnical drilling is ideal, but it is preferred that candidates are self-sufficient and capable of working in a fast-paced environment as part of a supportive, outward-looking team.
