RATE

£12.65 to £13.95 per hour (LTD or Umbrella)

LOCATION

Stockport, Manchester, Bredbury, Marple, Rochdale, Wilmslow, Altrincham, Oldham, Ramsbottom, Hyde, Denton, Ashton-under-Lyne, Stretford, Eccles, Failsworth, Middleton, Cheadle, Bury.

COMPANY

Our client is a well-established conveyor manufacture and installation company who specialise in providing turn-key bespoke automated conveyor system solutions for their customers - these are mainly based within the Warehouse Distribution sector.

ROLE

We are currently recruiting for an Assembly Technician to work in one of our client's workshops on a temp-to-perm basis - with interviews and starts available ASAP.

DUTIES

• Build fabricated sections into conveyors.

• Work on rental fleet conveyors (modifications, refurbishments or check over).

• Work on existing customer conveyors (modifications, refurbishments or check over).

• Fabricate component parts.

• Fabricate guards.

• Assemble steel sections into complete machines to customer requirements.

• Track belts safely - this is the most specific and important part of the Assembly Technician - training will be given, though even after training you will have a Safety Person present during tracking operations, as do all who track belts.

KEY POINTS

• This is a temp-to-perm contract (probation period length TBC).

• You will be working a minimum of 37 hours per week with shifts being Monday to Thursday (Apply online only)) and Friday (Apply online only)).

• There will also be overtime available when the company experiences particularly busy periods - this is usually on Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings.

• All PPE & some consumable/specialist tools provided.

• After the probationary period you will be eligible for the Pension Scheme, Health Care Scheme & Death in Service Benefit - along with 25 days paid holiday and 8 statutory holidays.

SKILLS

• Ability to work with a range of hand tools (drills, grinders etc.).

• Ability to work with a range of machine tools (guillotine, folder, drills, saws, lathes etc.).

• You will need to have the ability to work independently unsupervised or in a small team.

• You will require the ability to measure and "mark-out".

• You will need to be able to assemble to engineering drawings, sometimes to sketches and sometimes to be able to follow verbal instructions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• The job holder's duties and responsibilities are to use their skills and any tools required for the correct assembly of products.

• Your duties must always be performed in the safest possible manner, adhering to safe working practices as issued from time to time.

• The job holder must always wear the correct Personal Protective Equipment.

• It is the job holder's responsibility to remove any sharp edges from materials used; this is to be performed as soon as possible to prevent you or any others receiving cuts whilst handling the materials.

• You must take as much care as possible with painted assemblies.

• To take as much care of belts as possible.

• If the job holder performs any welding, then it is their responsibility to remove the spatter.

• A critical part of your role is feeding information back so the organisation can improve and hopefully make your role easier.

• The duties specified in this job description are not exhaustive and you may also be required to carry out other duties that may prove necessary for the proper performance of the job.

CRITERIA

• You MUST have at least two recent references available from your previous employers.

• You MUST have a good mechanical background and be willing to learn new skills.

• It would be IDEAL if you have experience of installing or manufacturing automated equipment in industrial environments.

• It would be IDEAL if you have a degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
