Project Manager
My client are recognized as one of the world leaders in the design and manufacture of electric process heaters and associated thyristor control systems for both Non Hazardous and Hazardous Area equipment.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Overall management of assigned manufacturing contracts of engineered products, specializing in skid heating package/s initially. To include the forecasting, progressing, status logging and presenting, and the overall measured success of contracts from handover to completion.
• Attending on / off site client meetings as required by contract.
• To check control systems interface with associated panel and ensure that any anomalies are cleared with the Sales Engineer and / or Control Systems Engineer before proceeding with the design.
• Responsible for writing RFQ's for bought out package items and engineering services. Seeking new suppliers such as plate, bar, rod, electrical elements, flanges, valves, pumps, chemical injection, instrumentation, filters, pressure vessels, deaerators and other job specific items.
• Technical bid evaluation and decide which supplier to commit purchase orders to.
• Ensuring that all shipping requirements are fulfilled in advance of equipment completion / despatch.
• Ensure that any required modifications to drawings / documents and equipment is actioned in a timely manner after readiness of the equipment for despatch.
• Ensuring that any potential liquidated damages claim is dealt with prior to equipment shipment and revised contract dates agreed in the event of contract slippage.
• Liaising with proposals engineer in instances where proposed material spends are in excess of that allowed in costing.
• Be responsible for PED and hazardous area documents and present for drawing / document approval (UK).
• Producing at handover, and monitoring, a project plan with set milestone targets to accurately monitor and present information on the status. Then from this progressing the project through its life to completion.
• Establish yourself with the client as the single point of contact for the contracts being handled and ensure all communication passes through with your review.
Skills and experience required:
• Previous engineering project management experience within an Oil and Gas/ Petro-chemical / Pharmaceutical environment.
• At least 15 years engineering experience with at least five years management experience.
• A Degree in Mechanical engineering or equivalent relevant qualification are required. Chartered Engineer Preferred.
• Experience of the full project design/manufacturing lifecycle including critical milestones and procurement activities.
• An understanding / knowledge of ATEX, PD5500, ASME, PED standards and pressure vessel design.
• Familiarity with the following software capabilities and occasional use of: Microsoft AX, Ceaser II, STAAD, Creo3 (ProE), AutoCAD, MS Project and MS office suite. Software and training will be provided where necessary
