MICAP is a leading provider of research and research tools for financial advisers considering Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS), Seed EIS, Venture Capital Trusts (VCTs) and Business Relief (BR) investments for their clients. Our company is in a very high-growth phase, and having launched just a few years ago we are now a market leader.

Part of the larger Indagate Group (which includes Intelligent Partnership - the UK's leading provider of education and insights to financial advisers on alternative investments), we now total a team of over 20. We are a young but highly-professional team, who strive for excellence at all times.

This unique opportunity will give the successful candidate exposure to the entire alternative investment market, and help them become an expert in private equity and the relevant tax legislations and FCA regulations. The ideal candidate will have one to two years' experience of working within the financial services industry, and preferably in research or due diligence (although this is not an absolute requirement).

Key areas of responsibility:
  • Carrying out an analysis of funds, fund managers and promoters and producing reviews of them
  • Monitoring developments in the marketplace and any regulatory changes that may affect our reviews
  • To work within a small but dedicated team, manage own workflows such that reviews are produced to time and budget while maintaining quality
  • Maintaining schedules of reviews to be undertaken and providing updates to fund managers and product promoters
  • Helping write reviews of other alternative investments for a sister company on an ad hoc basis

Person Specification:
  • Analytical with a finance, business, economics or accounting background desired (a min of a 2.1 Bachelor's degree essential)
  • An ability to write well and quickly is essential
  • Willingness and capability to read, digest large amounts of material and express this in a fluent and engaging manner
  • High personal motivation, enthusiastic and adaptable
  • Self-starter able to work confidently and effectively with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of investment product structures, taxation, and the associated FCA and HMRC legislation desirable
  • Strong relationship building and client management skills
  • Candidates should be seeking an opportunity to develop their career within a small, rapidly growing company in a fast changing environment
  • Integrity, intuition, flexibility and the ability to work within a team are highly prized qualities
  • Candidates must be confident using both MS Office and the Google Apps suite

  • The role will require working on at least one other group business, depending on requirements. However, it is intended that the majority of the successful candidate's time will be spent on MICAP
