About the Role

In the role of GI Claims and Financial Crime Risk Manager at LV=GI, you will play a key role in the first line of defence to the business. This is a fast paced changing environment, managing the day to day operational risk within GI Claims. You'll support the risk management of over 400 suppliers, and almost 500,000 claims in a year. Together with your team, you will develop risk awareness and capability within Claims, and provide training opportunities to keep the entire team abreast of new changes in all risk and financial crime related issues, as well as data security and management in keeping with data protection legislation.

This is a large scale role where no two days will ever be the same: You have your BAU activity, conducting risk assessments, investigating and performing root cause analysis, and reporting to stakeholders across the business; but you will need to be prepared to change course at a moment's notice if an urgent matter arises.

It's a busy and exciting time of change at LV=GI, and the Claims team is no exception. You'll be joining us at a time where our digital transformation is changing the control environment, so you'll be working in new and innovative ways to managing risk, and keeping the core of our business secure.

About You

You already have a good understanding of the typical risks faced by a large, busy insurance claims team. Your previous experience has seen you performing risk assessments, managing risk events and assessing the adequacy of internal controls. But now you're looking for a bigger challenge - you want to join a leading national insurer, managing a dedicated team.

Preferably with some Claims operational experience you'll have a practical working knowledge of insurance claims and the risks associated with it. You have worked within General Insurance, Claims and have worked with the risk capability of the business.

With a background in risk, you'll have developed critical thinking, a degree of professional scepticism and a confident, assertive and proactive approach to your role. In keeping with the LV=GI values, you'll adopt a positive, coaching approach to management, and as a great team player your stakeholder management will come naturally to you. A good networker, you remain connected to your wider team, internal stakeholders and external third parties.

With so many different components to your role, you'll be very organised and ready to drop everything, changing your plan depending on the immediate situation, and then pick it all back up again when you can.

Your curious nature allows you to be a good problem solver: analytical, thorough and have a keen eye for detail; yet you accept that there's always more to learn. You'll be joining an ever changing, digital-first environment, and your new manager is keen to keep your knowledge and skills up to date, so there may be opportunities for further training and development once you are in role.

The Details

As GI Claims and Financial Crime Risk Manager you'll be responsible for ensuring that the LVGI operational risk framework is effectively implemented and embedded across GI Claims and GI Fraud. This will include performing risk and control assessments, the management of internal risk events, including conducting root cause analysis and the monitoring of key risk indicators. You'll support the business in identifying and assessing potential risks to profitability and sustainability, put corrective actions in place and advise on how to avoid, reduce or tolerate risks.

You will review and monitor risk levels against agreed risk appetite statements reporting on this to the Claims Executive and internal risk committees. You will work with colleagues and third parties to identify and investigate financial criminal activity, and consider data security, management and threats to information in line with data protection legislation.

Collaboration is key to this role, so you will positively lead, coach and develop your specialist risk team adding value to the business through effective support, challenge and oversight. You will also provide wider support, education and training to a workforce of circa 1500 Claims and Crime Prevention colleagues to embed risk awareness throughout the business functions and facilitate effective risk identification and management.
