Akton Recruitment is on the lookout for an Engineering Manager in the Bredbury area. We are working with a dynamic and forward-thinking Engineering organisation, willing to reward those who are driven to providing exceptional service to both internal and external customers. As well as being a key member of the team that further strengthens the foundation of their business, you will have the opportunity to add value that is felt throughout their customer base. The successful candidate will be expected to immediately impact on the performance of the business.

Process driven, you will be expected to align and develop your team's operations with continuous improvement at the core, capable of using data to analyse performance and develop effective counter measures when faced with performance challenges. Taking input from stakeholders in the business such as the Sales and Operations teams, you will assist in developing solutions that meet customers' requirements. You will have had a varied career within engineered solutions/manufacturing businesses, coupled with a strong awareness of manufacturing techniques and associated processes. You will also have a desire for personal continuous professional development.

You will have working knowledge of CAD packages, ideally Solidworks and, ideally, you will be conversant with the SAGE 200 ERP system. As a minimum, you will have a deep knowledge of manufacturing BOM and routings structure, having established these in an ERP system previously.

Your primary role will be the translation of customer sales orders and into operational instruction, responsible for manufacturing drawing output, BOM & routing creation and developing supporting procedures for non-standard activities such as painting, non-destructive testing and welding requirements. You will also be responsible for acting upon Engineering Change Notifications, ensuring that sufficient training and system amendments are put in place, guaranteeing business continuity. Acting as a foundation for these activities, you will be responsible for aligning the CAD resource within the business, reviewing existing processes and drawing structure.

Immediate Requirements

To take immediate control of manufacturing drawing creation and scheduling, aligning a new team to the requirements of the business. This will include the development of drawings issued to Production following receipt of a customer PO. You will be expected to carry out a full review of existing drawing/design control, reviewing the structure of all Hughes drawings, developing a program to improve and standardise our approach to CAD. This project will also incorporate a review as to whether SAGE 200 BOMs can be created from Solidworks drawings either automatically or via a handshake system.

Long Term Strategy

To establish and accurate an efficient process flow between the Sales Team and Operations Team, ensuring that order requirements are correctly structured in our operating system, driving demand on the Purchasing Team and providing the Production Team with data designed to improve resource management and work scheduling.
