To provide support to the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis in delivering expert financial reporting.

This position will form part of the Business Support team within Finance, reporting into the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis. The role the will be expected to support the implementation of a new finance system. This includes supporting testing, assisting in the data cleansing and migration preparations and the production of materials.

This role has no direct reports and carries with it considerable autonomy and requires close co-operation with other members of the Finance team and other stakeholders across the organisation.

The successful candidate will have excellent excel and data work skills, will be comfortable managing a number of diverse tasks, will work proactively, make recommendations and have good inter-personal skills.


Supporting the implementation of a new finance system (essential):

Support the Systems Accountant in the implementation of a new finance system, including:

o Supporting the preparation of data imports, data cleansing and data reconciliation to source.

o Supporting the testing programme including running through test scripts and supporting the administration of the testing programme.

o Support the generation of process documentation and training materials.

Share knowledge, best practice and assist each member of the Business Support team within Finance with advice and guidance to help the Business Support team succeed.

Communicate regularly with the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis to ensure that they are aware of current issues. Able to support initiatives of the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis and respond positively to requests for ad-hoc reports would be desirable.

Financial Planning and Analysis (desirable):

Support the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis in the production of high quality Management Reporting.

Maintain an emphasis on continual development of the management reporting including the quality and presentation of information.

Work with all members of the Business Support team to develop an annual budgets or forecasts for the organisation that furthers its long term strategic plans.

Work with all members of the Finance team to produce customer focussed reporting and respond to queries from the wider organisation.

Assist with any other tasks and projects that impact the Finance department.

Knowledge and skills required


As a minimum, a part qualified AAT/ACA/ACCA/ACMA/CIPFA accountant or equivalent work experience.

Highly organised, capable of managing and monitoring the workload as part of a wider team.

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office especially Excel, beyond pivot table level.

Conscientious and methodical with keen attention to detail, assuring the accuracy of team's outputs.

Good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.


Experience of using computerised accounting systems including ideally; Sun Accounts, Q&A 10, Netsuite, Adaptive Insights.

The applicant should have a good knowledge of UK GAAP or IAS, and some familiarity with the key charity reporting requirements as set out in the latest SORP.

A proactive approach to problem solving.
