Bango Marketplace - App Developer Sales Manager


Following rapid adoption of the Bango Platform, Bango is hiring the role of a App Developer Sales Manager to capitalize on the significant opportunities created and to realize the company's tremendous future growth potential.

This role will be critical to drive increased sales on a global scale, handling direct sales with the world's leading app developers and gaming publishers, with key responsibilities including:
  • Increasing the use of the Bango Marketplace by App Developers and publishing partners
  • Winning new app developers & partners to the Bango Marketplace platform

This role will focus on selling Bango Marketplace to app developers who are able to use the unique technology and data to help their user acquisition campaigns.

Working within a complex environment, Bango is looking for an individual who can mobilize around Bango's strategy. and identifying new business opportunities with app developer marketing. The individual will have the intellect, experience and interpersonal skills to make a positive and persuasive contribution to the future development of Bango's strategy.

This is a key role within Bango at an exciting stage in the company's development.

The Role

Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Sales and Business Development, this role will take strategic, global focus on the app developer sales pipeline for the Bango Marketplace proposition. Primary focus on EMEA and wider markets, offering support to the teams in the US, Japan and South Korea.

Initially, there is a need to develop an understanding of Bango's business, the market it operates in, its customers, Bango payment platform (the app stores and mobile network operators) and Bango Marketplace. This understanding will enable the App Developer Sales Manager to evolve the current business development/sales set-up, and progress channels to market to serve existing and future customers.

By understanding how Bango not only manages customers but also how they 'monetize data', the ideal candidate will be able to look at where there are inefficiencies and how to improve the business development/sales process.

Key responsibilities
  1. Win new and repeat Bango Marketplace business from app developers and engaging with issues, sales objections and obstacles to capturing business.
  2. Work to expand the use of Bango Marketplace with world's leading app developers and publishers.
  3. Continuous work on the app developer sales pipeline, working with the app developer sales team to ensure the sales process runs smoothly.
  4. Develop a channel for the provision of Bango Marketplace services to a broader range of App Developers, consistently feeding information back into the Product Marketing, Product Development, Customer Success, Finance and Legal teams to ensure 'in the field' learnings are brought into the organization.

Key tasks/scope:
  • Define Bango Marketplace sales pipeline, working across the global functions to build a core app developer sales opportunity pipeline.
  • Identify, prospect, secure and manage qualified app developers across the assigned markets and take full responsibility for own performance.
  • Confidently and articulately present Bango Marketplace to app developers and large partners such as Rovio, EA, Jam City and other high rated app developers.
  • Travel required for customer-facing meetings. Key areas in Europe, Middle-East, and Africa.
  • Work alongside management to ensure quarterly targets are met. To achieve targets, ensure key blockers (both internal and external) are communicated and actioned by relevant parties.
  • Work closely with product marketing to ensure Bango Marketplace product proposition and campaigns empower sales performance.
  • Work closely with the Marketing team to provide an environment for sales success
  • Continuous monitoring and input on sales CRM tool Pipedrive for clarity on sales pipeline
  • Contacts sourcing and lead generation through LinkedIn, MixRank and other tools for early stage conversations.
  • Attendance of key app developer / gaming conferences globally (GDC, Pocket Gamer Connects, MAU, E3) to generate interest and new prospects.

The Person

The App Developer Sales Manager will need to be customer-facing to App developers and also internally facing with the Product Marketing, Customer Success and wider teams to make sure that future success is ensured. He/she will need to quickly understand any customer resistance or ideas and be able to translate these clearly and efficiently to the rest of the Bango team, ensuring key information is fed back into the organization.

This role is part of the sales and business development team of 6 field people based in Europe, USA, LATAM and Asia Pacific, as well as further individuals involved with customer success management and specific business development initiatives. Customers also interact closely with the Customer Success and Marketing teams.

Our ideal candidate will need to understand the dynamics of technology sector, to clearly and concisely articulate the consequences of not delivering against objectives. Ideally, he/she would currently be working in a business that deals with many of the same app/platform providers and will be selling a service or solution to or alongside these businesses.

  • This is a key role and, therefore, it is important that the successful candidate has the right blend of the following skills and experience.
  • Proven experience in a sales function with an app developer focus
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the app developer industry + wider digital marketing space
  • Minimum 1 year's experiences in a similar sales function for a technology-based company
  • Partnership oriented working with an ability to understand and grow success around Bango
  • Strong prospecting, qualifying, influencing, negotiation and sales closing skills
  • Exceptional energy and enthusiasm to win new business competitive and global market.
  • A sharp intellect backed by relevant experience of handling complexity and diversity with different customer business models and in different countries and cultures.
  • A keen personal interest in the gaming industry
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (in English)
  • Entrepreneurial, capable of spotting and acting on opportunities in a proactive manner
  • Strong team orientation - able to work effectively in multiple teams simultaneously
  • Resilience - the ability to work under pressure
  • Essential demonstrable understanding:
  • Understanding of the market Bango operates in, with a technology background.
  • A recent history of success in winning in a highly competitive market.
  • Strong enthusiasm and curiosity, with a desire to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience in a User Acquisition or paid marketing role
  • Experience of working with App Developers or publisher
  • Expert knowledge of the mobile attribution / ad-network space (Facebook Audience Network, Google App Campaigns, etc.)

  • Primary base will be in Cambridge, UK with regular travel. The role holder may typically travel internationally approximately 1-2 weeks in every month.
