Purchasing Manager
Location: Cheshire

Our client is a well established organisation who supplies their products across the globe. Due their year on year growth are now looking for an experienced and professional German Speaking Strategic Purchasing Manager to join their team.

As Purchasing Manager you will be responsible for contract negotiations and packaging and supplier relationship management, whilst implementing and managing supplier quality management systems and monitoring the performances of suppliers and take action where required.

  • Support in the creation and implementation of a purchasing and sourcing strategy for defined product groups and complete systems;
  • Processing of RFQs, negotiations and contract conclusions;
  • Controlling of all product and non-product related contracts;
  • Provision of interdisciplinary aligned forecasts for key suppliers;
  • Steering and coordination of operational purchasing activities in worldwide subsidiaries;
  • Proactive supplier management concerning existing and potentially new vendors: supply market analysis, strategic and operational supplier evaluation in conjunction with supplier development (quality, processes etc.);
  • To establish long-term supplier relationships with suppliers whilst being the main point of contact for key supplier;
  • Accountability for working capital and inventory level management
  • Responsible for suppliers in Europe
  • Predominantly based in the UK but travel will be required to the suppliers and warehouse in Germany.
  • Resource new suppliers

  • Proven experience within strategic, international purchasing - ideally within a manufacturing industry.
  • Extensive experience in supplier management and international sourcing of vendors
  • Good knowledge of international contract law
  • Practical knowledge in the creation and implementation of product related purchasing strategies including their cross-functional alignment
  • Potential for leadership and team alignment
  • Structured methodical working style
  • Ability to work independently
  • Distinct negotiation skills, assertiveness and persuasiveness
  • Ability to communicate to a high level in both German and English
  • Demonstrate a good working knowledge of MS Office products and ERP systems, NetSuite (desirable)
  • Be flexible & adaptable;
  • Willingness to travel
