On behalf of this organisation, AMS are looking for a Data Governance Support Analyst for a 12 Month contract based in Derby
  • The Finance Transformation programme will deliver a step change in the effectiveness and efficiency of the Finance function within the next 2 to 3 years.     A key component of achieving our vision is having a mature Data Governance capability that will transform the way we govern and manage our data to improve operational efficiency and deliver to our business strategy.

    Core duties and responsibilities

    Role - Data Governance Support Analyst (Defence)

    Reporting to the Data Governance Lead and working closely with the Sector Data Governance business partner, the Data Governance Support Analyst for Defence will support the setup of and operate within the Defence Data Governance Support Function to support the Defence Data Governance Board.

    The Data Governance Support Analyst for Defence will perform and support activities that a) catalogue and report on the maturity of data, and b) improve the level of data maturity within the Defence Sector.

    Responsibilities will include:

    * Capture, triage, and track data issues / pain points until closure
    * Support the Data Governance Lead / Demand Manager and Defence Data Governance business partner in the preparation of materials ahead of each Defence Data Governance Board session
    * Work with end users to understand data pain points, the impact on business operations, perform initial prioritisation, and help prepare materials for submission to the Defence Data Governance Board for approval
    * Perform preliminary root cause analysis of data pain points, which may include data, process and system analysis activities
    * Support data and IT SMEs with remediation and resolution activities of data pain points and with data quality improvement activities
    * Undertake data remediation and resolution activities (and getting support and/or services from business, data and IT SMEs as necessary) of data pain points and with data quality improvement activities such as process redesign, data changes, and system changes
    * Support Data Owners in the definition and standardisation of data objects, including the creation and management of relevant artefacts such data policies, data standards, process maps, and user guidelines
    * Cataloguing of data objects and mapping to business processes
    * Support with the monitoring and reporting of data quality to the Data Governance Board

    Essential Skills:

    * Analytical and problem solving skills
    * Strong experience in data, process and systems analysis
    * Good communication skills across different levels of the organisations
    * Proficient in working with productive tools - i.e. MS Office: PowerPoint, Excel and Word
    * Able to understand complex business issues across different business functions (especial Finance) and manufacturing, and present them simply for easy consumption and decision-making
    * Able to understand and converse across different disciplines: data, business processes and IT
    * Experience working in a data, data governance or data management capacity
    * Able to convert business data requirements into data definitions, standards and policies

    Advantageous Skills:
    * Educated to degree level or equivalent in relevant discipline.
    * Finance qualified or experience working within the Finance function.
    * Experience using data governance tools such as Informatica Axon, Informatica Enterprise Data Catalog and Collibra.
    * Experience working with SAP ECC, Oracle HFM, Oracle HP, and/or Oracle DRM.
    * Experience with process and data mapping.
    * Experience working with data using languages such as SQL.
    Experience:
    * 3+ working within a data governance or data management function or role, or 3+ working within embedded Finance IT function.
    * Experience working in the manufacturing, defence and/or aerospace industry.
    * Working in global / multinational organisations.
