The Development & Technology Enhanced Learning team own the design and development of skills-based training materials for both internal and external customers. With an input into new requirements right through to the review and updating of existing materials/toolkits, they oversee the process from initial learning outcome request through design to evaluation & completion. A customer facing team who are focused on providing innovative and creative training solutions and ideas, from animation through to virtual reality.

Job purpose:

Implement data management and configuration programmes for all corporate learning and competence management systems, to maintain the integrity of training and assessment data and materials.

Key Accountabilities:

·Provide system advice and support to internal and external customers or stakeholders to promote consistent and compliant use of Network Rail's corporate learning and competence management systems.

·Update Network Rail's training and assessment documentation distribution systems, and the online catalogue, in a timely manner to meet publication deadlines for new courses or changes to existing course materials.

·Provide customer support and manage income recovery processes for external training providers and users of distributed training and assessment content through training materials publication and/or learning management systems.

·Update training and competence recording systems and interfaces between Network Rail and 3rd party systems to reflect additions, amendments and deletions to the competence management system.

·Develop and execute routine reports to monitor data on supporting training and competence systems and undertake corrective action where data inconsistencies are found.

·Manage the publication of training and assessment documentation and maintain document control records.

·Document and maintain systems processes and guidelines.

·Support the Development and Technology Enhanced Learning team in delivering system related improvement projects as required

Job skills, experience and qualifications:


·Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and a working knowledge of other Microsoft office software

·Excellent customer service skills

·Experience of working with databases and learning and competence management systems

·Excellent attention to detail and quality driven approach to working

·Ability to demonstrate personal accountability when striving for results, whilst consistently role-modelling core behaviours of collaboration and customer-centred decision making.

·Ability to assess and challenge risky or unsafe actions, or poor behaviours of others


·Experienced user of the Oracle eBusiness Suite and the Moodle learning management platform

·Appreciation of competence management models in safety critical industries
