Becoming a Product Owner with Capita Travel & Events:

Location- UK Flexible (based either of Capita Travel & Events offices - Taunton, Stockport, Leeds, Derby) flexibility to travel to other sites would be required

This role is to the lead the Scrum team on what the product needs to do and why and is responsible for being the voice of the customer. Product Owner is responsible for working with the operational aspects of the business to ensure delivered features are clearly understood and communicated.

What you will do:
  • Product Planning - working with product management and proposition the PO is responsible for updating their backlog and updating the relevant stakeholders on progress and understanding what the business priorities will be.
  • Responsible for managing the backlog of items. The backlog will consist of new features stories, non-functional stories, technical stories and defects.
  • PO will work with their scrum delivery team to understand the size of work for each item and ensure each items is prioritised based on value vs time matrix.
  • Sprint Planning - the PO reviews and prioritises the items to be worked on including any dependencies with other PO's. They are the main source for defining the sprint goal the story detail and sign off the sprint plan.
  • Writing user stories - writes the feature and non-functional user stories and defect stories.
  • Acceptance - Testing takes place within the scrum team by a tester
  • Daily Stand ups
  • Sprint Reviews & Retrospectives - As the person responsible for reviewing and accepting stories, it is important that the PO attends Sprint Reviews.
  • Customer Centric & Business Value - As a PO it is important at all times items on the backlog are worked upon to ensure that what is delivered is desirable by the customer and solves the problem with the best go-to-market value in mind.
  • Business update and impact - work with key stakeholders to provide demo's and documentation such as release notes and support relevant stakeholders with documentation in order to facilitate go-to-market readiness and planning.

Your experience will include:
  • Product Planning , Sprint Planning , Writing User Stories Backlog Refinement - Successful delivery of the items in the product back log with a good success criteria
  • Excellent communication with the technical and non-technical areas of the business
  • Well managed backlog and evidence of backlog prioritisation process.
  • Cost effective feature delivery
  • Experience with understanding problems
  • Ability to articulate a requirement and its importance
  • Business Travel background (Desirable)
  • Ability to prioritise
  • Clear communicator
  • Ability to work as part of the cross functional team
