Role - Project Manager (Test Aircrew Training)

Location - Boscombe Down


Job Purpose

The Long Term Partnering Agreement (LTPA) exists to provide MOD with Test & Evaluation and Training capabilities in the UK. QinetiQ maintains the capabilities and initiates new projects, as required, to address obsolescence and development of new or enhanced capabilities.
The organisation undertakes specification, design, procurement, development, integration and acceptance of the Test & Evaluation and Training Systems across the Maritime, Land, Air and Boscombe Down domains.

An opportunity exists to join the Air Test and Evaluation Capability Integrated Delivery Team, supporting a number of programmes and growth streams. You will be responsible for a number of Projects and tasked with ensuring our commitments to our internal and external stakeholders are met. Our projects have a diverse and complex stakeholder community, both internal and external to the company.

Key Accountabilities

- Delivery of assigned projects to time, cost, quality and customer satisfaction;
- Engender a vibrant and inclusive project team dynamic, fostering a 'can do' approach;
- Pro-active Stakeholder management and relationship building;
- When requested, develop clear and compelling customer proposals;
- Support the IDT with Follow-On Sales to support QinetiQ growth ambitions;
- Open, accurate and timely project reporting, both to internal management and external customers;
- Management and control of project financial expenditure within authorised budget and in line with the QinetiQ delegations matrix.

Core Competencies

- Ability to decompose complex issues, to an appropriate level of detail, in a methodical manner (essential);
- First-hand experience of procurement and tendering processes (e.g. the production of specifications, definition of supplier selection criteria and contracting);
- Knowledgeable in risk management with an understanding of mitigation strategies;
- Experience of systems engineering discipline, and the role it plays in the project lifecycle;
- Capable of acting as an effective team member at all levels;
- Excellent written, presentational and verbal communication skills;
- Working knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office products; particularly Project, Outlook; Excel, PowerPoint and Word;
- Working knowledge and experience of SAP for project reporting and procurement;
- Working knowledge and experience of PPM for project forecasting.

- Present a proactive and dynamic professional attitude to internal and external customers;
- Open, honest, enthusiastic team member with good written, presentational and verbal communication skills.

Education

- Degree (or equivalent experience) in appropriate discipline;
- Hold a recognised PM qualification (APMP or Prince2).

Ideal Background

- Minimum of 1 years (3 years desirable) within an Engineering and / or Project Management environment;
- Experience of systems engineering and its application to successful project delivery;
- Experience in Aerospace or Test and Evaluation or other closely related sectors;
- Technical knowledge of Aircraft Modifications, Aviation Civil Regulation, Aviation Training Delivery, Establishment of Aviation Services and/or Ground Test Facilities.
