Engineering Manager

We have been instructed to find an Engineering Manager for a large Packaging Business. This role is based in Wigan

The Engineering Manager is a key appointment within the organisation and will be tasked with continuing the progress made to date with the implementation of TPM within the business. There is a platform of TPM to build upon with plenty of opportunity to really make your mark on the Company and wider organisation.

There are 12 direct reports and 20 indirect and this particular role reports into the Site Director

The strategic approach to TPM implementation is a focus for this position and we would only consider someone who has experienced the implementation journey.

As you would expect with an appointment like this you would have a broad remit of responsibilities to cover such as.....

Continue the TPM journey, accelerating progress and rising standards
Providing leadership for HSE within the Engineering function and positively influence the progression of a behavioral safety and risk management culture.
Strategic development of the engineering function and implementation of a pro-active Maintenance strategy:
Continuous development of a Planned Maintenance Program that will improve asset integrity, analysing data and trends through Focused Technicians:
Ensure that the Engineering structure is aligned to the current and future business needs to enable the team to deliver the functional vision. Create an environment through the training, coaching and effective management of people, where all employees are motivated to deliver outstanding performance.
Budgetary Control
We are looking for a profile such as this...

TPM practitioner with a demonstrable track record of results and improvements,
Graduate Calibre (in an Engineering discipline) with high levels of numeracy and literacy.
Several years' experience of FMCG or other sectors where quality and service are a high priority.
Previous management experience in a lean Manufacturing environment.
Project Management experience
Experience in design and start-up of equipment and installations.
Experience in maintenance management.
High level of Mechanical & Electrical Engineering Theory and application of skills
Working knowledge of Health and Safety regulations - IOSH certification desirable
Sound analytical ability with a high level of inquisitiveness
Lean Six Sigma/5s experience, continuous improvement knowledge
Excellent problem solving skills - able to think of creative solutions to problems that deliver 100 year fixes
The ability to effectively manage sustainable change and deliver outstanding results
Ability to make sound and rational judgments / decisions in a fast paced environment
The ability to communicate to, collaborate with and influence people at all levels within the organization
High level of personal drive and resilience with a passion for excellence
Critical thinker who challenges the status quo and identifies opportunities for improvement
Demonstrable leadership and a proven track record of managing and developing people, and Team management, leadership, resolution of disputes.
