Installation Manager

County provide and install conservatories, orangeries, windows and doors in PVCu, Timber and Aluminum to the retail market, through our 3 showrooms, 6 advisors and 7 fitting teams and we are growing and expect to need a further 3 teams before the year end.

To achieve this growth and manage our client driven quality standards we need a proactive professional with a results driven approach and superb people skills to take this role further.

This is a permanent position reporting directly to the Operations Director and offers future career progression.

Previous experience in a supervisory/managerial role is highly advantageous as are excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.


Working alongside the Operations Director, surveyor and support team, you will take ownership of the full Installation life-cycle, driving installation team performance from delivery through to completion.

You will have time served quality fitting experience over several years, surveying experience and proven man and client management experience with a demonstrable track record of helping grow and develop people to achieve the standard we expect.

Ideally you will have intimate knowledge that can be passed to your fitting teams where issues arise on window, door or conservatory installations and be able to resolve these using your comprehensive understanding of the window and door manufacture and installation industry.

As our Installations Manager your key responsibilities are:
  • To manage all installers from their initial loading to completion of projects
  • To undertake installations within the KPIs set and agreed with the Operations and Managing Director
  • Manage a current level of 7 teams of team of Installers, recruiting additional teams to 10 by year end
  • Schedule fitters work and suppliers deliveries
  • Ensure the fitters leave the warehouse with the correct products and materials they need.
  • Be responsible for training and monitoring teams to deliver superb client satisfaction
  • Responsibility to resolve service call issues via agreed visits for fitters to return or self-manage where urgent and within 5 days in any event.
  • Communicate and update all customers at start of Installation until completion and maintain excellent customer services including install visits to ensure complete satisfaction.
  • Ensure that all customer contractual obligations are met and deal with and resolve any on site issue as they arise.
  • Possess a technical knowledge to a sufficient level to be able to establish what is a competent installation and arbitrate when conflict occurs
  • Set communicated targets with the Installers for quality and time expectations
  • Manage self-employed contractual obligations, ensure public liability insurances are current and vehicles, tools and equipment are maintained and accounted for correctly
  • Prepare and review risk assessments and method statements with the surveyor and implement these on site monitoring all Health and Safety aspects proactively
  • Undertake resource and material planning with suppliers so installations proceed smoothly and on time and receive major deliveries, managing the warehouse for smooth transition to fitters vehicles
  • Provide accurate, regular and timely management information on customer records, completed installations and customer debtors
  • Raise, monitor, action and report on Non-conformances as necessary and implement change to reduce these
  • Carry out any other duties that may be deemed necessary for the completion of the works by the company and/or the line manager

  • Experience of managing the installation of retail fenestration/glazing projects in a Retail and/or Commercial environment.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work pro-actively, unsupervised and as a part of a team
  • A strong people Manager with excellent communication and influencing skills
  • A strong customer focus both for internal staff and external customers
  • A positive can do attitude
  • Intermediate experience and knowledge of Microsoft office
  • Contractual and Health and Safety knowledge
  • Valid UK Driving Licence
  • May be a CSCS card holder ideally but training can be provided
  • May be SMSTS Qualified ideally but training can be provided
  • A provable referenced background

Job Type: Full Time

Salary: Experience dependent IRO £32,000 to £35,000
