Job Title: IT Systems Administrator

Location: Basildon, Essex

Salary: £25,500 - £31,500 per annum (Dependant on Experience)
Weekly pay!

Temporary contract (possibility of it leading into a permanent role)

Hours: 8am- 4.30pm Monday to Friday's

This position will be based in Basildon however travel to other sites will be required.

First interviews will be held at the agency in Wickford.

Job description:

Our Basildon based client are looking for an experienced IT Systems Administrator to maintain all aspects of the IT infrastructure ensuring that systems are working to their optimum to maximise efficient working practices. Working both remotely and on site in the capacity of 2nd and 3rd line support and system administration.


* Maintain key business systems and make sure the digital/IT infrastructure is secure as this role will be critical in safeguarding students and staff through the advancement of IT solutions that proactively support safer working and learning & to support and facilitate the actions required to ensure compliance with security policies and various audits
* Support the implementation of digital solutions that will advance the working environment and enhance learning practices as well as ensure key applications and systems are operational and compliant
* Task manage other technicians in the department by allocating related job/tasks to keep the IT environment operational

Key Responsibilities:

* Create, oversee and test security measures
* Resolve issues based on levels and escalations as well as troubleshooting
* Be Proactive - Suggest improvements to network performance, capacity and scalability
* Administrate infrastructure, including firewalls, databases, malware protection software and other processes and maintain integrity of the network and security
* Analyse and isolate issues and evaluate and modify system performance
* Oversee and delegate tasks and troubleshooting to IT support technicians
* Plan, installing and configuring computer hardware operating systems
* Carry out special tasks at Head of Digital Infrastructures direction or request
* Providing support, including procedural documentation and relevant reports
* Plan and support the role out of new applications and delegate to IT technicians as required
* Oversee response time for troubleshooting within agreed time limits

Experience and Knowledge required:

* Professional IT certification (MCSA, MCSE, CCNA, ITIL or similar)
* A full, clean, UK driving license
* An ability to use IT effectively to plan and carry out workload (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet, Consult Websites, etc)
* An ability to deal with people sensitively and confidentially within policies and procedures
* A methodical and organised approach to work
* Flexible approach to work and role can involve out of hours
* Able to work under pressure and to deadlines
* High attention to detail
