This is an ideal opportunity for someone with PR experience who is looking to progress and expand their skills by joining the in-house UK press office team for the world's number one tourism business.

No two days are ever the same in the world of travel, and as a Press Officer you're on the front line of answering and investigating calls and emails from the media and you'll be an integral part of the press office team. You'll also work closely with various teams around the business to produce timely communications for our internal and external customers. This includes both reactive and proactive notifications around day to day incidents, issues and crisis situations impacting our customers' holiday experience.

What you will be doing
With a keen eye for detail, strong written skills, a calm approach with the ability to work effectively at pace, the Press Officer will produce a variety of written materials including statements for press or briefings for customer facing teams. You'll work with key stakeholders around the business to establish facts on incidents and issues affecting our customers' holiday. You will provide clear, timely, accurate and factual updates on any number of scenarios which could potentially impact the customers' holiday enjoyment.

As an integral part of the External Communications team, you will work with key stakeholders around the business including; Customer Service Excellence, Holiday Change, After Travel, Retail, Contact Centres, TUI Destination Experiences and Customer Operations to ensure all customer facing teams are briefed and kept informed of all customer communications and ensuring all customer facing teams have the necessary information at hand to deal with customer queries whilst protecting brand integrity and reputation.

You will be responsible for handling day to day reactive media enquiries ensuring that all calls into the press office are actioned quickly and that responses show the business in the best possible light.

Your role in Crisis Management will be to attend crisis briefings and conference calls as required along with drafting media and customer facing materials including statements, Q&As and briefings. You'll also join our on call rota providing 24/7 cover outside of office hours to the business in the event or urgent media matters or in the event of a major incident.

Proactive promotion will also be part and parcel of your role within a busy in-house press office team. You will have a strong sense for news and you'll be able to spot and seek out a proactive opportunity to propose and write press releases. You'll distribute these to appropriate media with relevant assets including photography and film. You'll also plan and set up press trips, filming trips and other overseas events with responsibility for logistical co-ordination and where appropriate managing these in resort.

What we are looking for
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills are essential
  • Experience of working with the media
  • Experience of working in a busy press office and working under pressure
  • Experience of preparing various media materials including statements, Q&As, spokespeople briefings
  • Ability to establish relationships with people at all levels
  • Seen as a credible ambassador for the brands and a champion for our customers with an ability to influence external audiences in an appropriate manner
  • Ability to work independently and manage own time to hit tight deadlines
