My client has a fantastic opportunity for a MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER to assist with and improve the production process at their manufacturing plant in Brighouse, West Yorkshire.
THE ROLE:
* Efficiently design new or modify existing products to normal engineering standards, using the CAD system, ensuring compliance with the product specification in terms of function, cost and ease of manufacture.
* Prepare sketches, layouts and preliminary costs of prototypes; conduct test work when necessary.
* Ideally conversant with the application of microprocessor controls.
* Initiate and complete the building and wiring of prototypes and production first offs (ideally requires assembly, wiring and brazing skills)
* Testing of products, including customer witness testing.
* Accurately documenting test data and file test reports correctly within the established system and in accordance with the Company quality procedures.
* Creation or modification of Bills of Materials for new and existing products.
* Generate and implement cost reduction ideas in line with departmental objectives
* Provide technical assistance to contractors, consultants, distributers, installers and end users via telephone / Email
* Resolve site problems with installers/end users visiting site as necessary
* Assist in preparation of any project plans, helping to identify resources for single or multiple ongoing projects with the use of charts to ensure projects are completed within agreed deadlines.
* Liaise with all internal and external parties such as purchasing, manufacturing, suppliers, customers and other engineers to ensure actions are completed to the project plan.
* Provide product support to other departments.
* Comply with the companies ISO9001 and ISO40001 management systems
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
* HNC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
* Mechanical and Electrical skills are essential as site visits will be carried out unsupervised.
* Use of 3D CAD (ideally AutoDesk Inventor)
* Ideally have knowledge of Thermo dynamics, Electrical Engineering, Fluid Dynamics, Refrigeration, Noise/Sound and Materials
* Familiar with procedures on building sites including Risk Assessments and Method Statements
* Ability to work remotely using own initiative when required
* Must be computer literate including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
* Ability to communicate design ideas clearly
* Ability to cope under pressure.
* Full UK driving licence
