A fantastic opportunity for a Teaching Assistant to join our small independent specialist school in Newport.
We need you to help us to continue providing a great education for our young people with behavioural difficulties and additional learning needs.
Our school provides education to young people who live in our residential homes.This is a challenging yet rewarding role where you will flourish within an environment where you can make a positive difference to our young people's lives.
Your duties will depend on your experience, aptitudes and training.
Generally, you'll support the pupil by:
* Undertaking activities with individuals, groups or a class of children in order to facilitate their physical, emotional and educational development within a safe environment, usually under the supervision of a teacher.
* Working to establish a supportive relationship with the children and guardians concerned in order to facilitate effective communication and partnership between school and home where appropriate.
* Carrying out pre-determined educational activities and work programmes ensuring that specific guidelines are followed whilst promoting independent learning to support the children's understanding.
* Encouraging acceptance and inclusion of the child with special needs to support achievement and development.
* Promoting and reinforcing the child's self-esteem and encourage the child to maximise their achievement and development.
* Monitoring of students at break & lunch times.
* Transporting of student to & from timetabled activities.
* Ensuring all pupils are properly safeguarded from harm and abuse at all times.
You will ideally have experience working with pupils with additional support needs / special educational needs. A full job description and person specification can be supplied on request.
