The Role

This is a newly created opportunity for a Deal Structuring Manager (Invoice Finance) to join a growing team based in Manchester. The role requires engagement with both Business Development ('BDM') and Relationship Management ('RM') teams to ensure that new business / existing client opportunities are within appetite, structured correctly and have appropriate rigour and financial analysis. The successful candidate will also provide strategic input into exit strategy, training and Risk Management strategies where appropriate and will be expected to have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with experience of interacting with both internal and external business stakeholders and, preferably, experience of preparing, writing and presenting Credit Papers to senior management. In addition to adherence to key performance indicators ('KPIs'), the role will also involve assisting the Portfolio Management team with stress-testing financial scenarios vs Watch List, Risk Restructuring and Work-Out cases

Key Accountabilities include

· Provide input and advice into all aspects of the Deal Structuring process including policy interpretation and Credit Paper compilation

· Financial analysis and due diligence on Prospect and Client financial and management accounts (including budgets and cash flow forecasts) with assessment provided as to financial strength / weakness, cash utilisation and funding requirement

· Sanity-check Prospect / Client assumptions provided therein with appropriate use of 'stress-testing' and sectoral overlay

· Assess technological and process improvements to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the Invoice Finance Credit Underwriting and related functions

· Mentoring and training of First Line of Defence ('FLOD') colleagues in the review, interpretation and presentation of financial data (including cash flow analysis and forecasts) as part of the New Business, In-Life and ad-hoc submissions process

· Adhere to risk policies and procedures and support the fostering of a culture of continuous risk improvement across the Invoice Finance Credit Underwriting and related functions

Additional Responsibilities

· In collaboration with the IF Underwriting team, ensure that the output of financial analysis captures exceptions to Policy and Higher Risk Business

· Undertake project work when required

· Work collaboratively with peer group as 'one risk team' and ensure ongoing focus on process improvement

· Attend Invoice Finance / Specialist Finance Credit / Transaction Credit Committee and take comprehensive Minutes as required

· Hold a Credit Mandate for use on an exceptional and / or intermittent basis

Experience required

· This is a hybrid role suitable for candidates from an Insolvency and / or Accountancy Practitioner background with significant financial analysis and forecast / cash flow modelling experience

· Extensive 'hands on' experience vs financial analysis / cash flow modelling through 'boom and bust' economic and credit cycles

· Experience of Invoice Finance / ABL products; preferably gleaned via the Insolvency and / or commercial banking / ABL professions

· Influencing and negotiation skills vs proactive management / engagement where required of 3rd party professional relationships / stakeholders with due regard to the new business introduction source

· Demonstrate an appropriate 'risk-reward' balance vs commercial awareness and judgement; particularly an understanding of external economic factors that may impact sales ledger / ABL recovery

· Strong problem-solving skills, with ability to 'think outside the box' and formulate innovative structure, monitoring and work-out solutions to optimise business lending opportunities and, where required, recoveries

The Rewards

As you would expect, this opportunity offers a competitive basic salary and reward package, and you'll also benefit from our commitment to investing in your professional development.
