This role will be based within the UK finance team reporting into the Financial Controller. To support our monthly accounting operations for the UK entities, the financial accountant will primarily be responsible for preparing monthly close schedules, journal entries, and account reconciliations. In addition, they will be tasked with investigating and documenting monthly and quarterly variance explanations to support management requests. This is a fast-paced work environment where operating and financial systems have recently been migrated onto new reporting platforms. As a result, departmental goals and ad-hoc requests will create various additional responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Investigate and provide detailed variance explanations on the movement of financial statement accounts
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly accounting reporting packages
  • Review current monthly close procedures and provide recommendations on any changes
  • Prepare monthly journal entries to the general ledger including accruals & prepayments
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations using blackline accounting software
  • Maintenance & control of multiple fixed asset registers and preparation of reconciliations
  • Assist in the production of statutory accounts for UK entities under FRS102
  • Prepare and provide documentation for internal and external auditors
  • Provide ad hoc support to other team members when required
  • Maintain strong internal relationships with the US parent finance teams via the provision of timely responses to requests & queries


The ideal candidate will have the following experience and skills:
  • Relevant degree
  • Newly or part qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA)
  • Strong excel skills necessary (Vlookups & pivots)
  • Understanding of US GAAP/SOX and knowledge of FRS102 is desirable
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritise workload to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
