My client is delighted to announce that they are recruiting a Finance and Business Operations Director for their multi- academy trust. This exciting opportunity has become available, due to the promotion of the current postholder, as they enter a further exciting phase of growth. Established in 2013, the academy has grown to include 30 academies. With offices based in Northampton, their academies are spread across the Peterborough Diocese in Northamptonshire and Rutland.

We are seeking to appoint a hardworking, qualified accountant with exceptional leadership skills who can inspire and manage others. The successful candidate will have a key focus on the financial and business management across the academy. As this is a leadership role in the Trust, the successful candidate will be an active member of the Senior Leadership Team, providing strategic and operational leadership.

Job Purpose:
  • Management and oversight of Trust financial and identified business and operational aspects across the Trust by ensuring effective financial processes and systems are developed and implemented in the Trust's academies, regularly reviewing these and providing support where it is required across the PDET network
  • Providing a link between the PDET Central Team and the academies by working with academy Business/Finance Managers and the central Finance team
  • Bringing a modern, business-like approach to the leadership of the finance and operations function, running it as a highly competent, efficient and centralised service
  • Ensuring an emphasis on partnership with the academies with devolution of the service where appropriate and delivering a proactive, customer-focused service
  • Contributing to strategy and policy development to support the MAT's aims and objectives by ensuring the provision of management information for the MAT's planning and monitoring systems, and the completion of statistical returns to external agencies

As a member of the senior management team of the Trust, the role may be nuanced or may change over time and the post holder needs to be responsive and proactive in the context of strategic priorities. Therefore, it is not possible to set out a full range of duties.

The post holder will operate as a member of the strategic leadership team by:
  • Taking an active part in the life of the Trust by, for example, attendance at events, assistance with financial advice on specific projects and proposals and attending meetings within the MAT/ academies and external events as required
  • Building and developing a culture of high performing teams, ensuring succession planning is in place at all levels
  • Maintaining a presence in national professional networks, and through these, and other means, ensuring a current overview of sector policies and developments
  • Building close and effective working relationships with key partners
  • Playing a lead role in the delivery of the Trust Strategic Plan and effectively managing change processes across the Trust in line with this plan

In return an excellent salary is on offer depending on experience. The successful candidate will also receive 25 days plus 8 bank holidays increasing each year to a maximum of 30 days plus 8 bank holidays after 5 years' service and a Local Government Pension Scheme.
