We are excited to be partnering with a client of ours based in the Hemel Hempstead area who are seeking a Financial Controller to join their dynamic, busy and successful Finance team.


A commercially astute manager with a good level of financial accounting, costing and financial planning skills who is able to take a strong leading role in the senior management team of a dynamic, growing and very successful company in the business to business service sector.

Responsibilities and duties

Manage a team of 2 accounts staff to ensure that sales, purchases, expenses, assets and liabilities are recorded and controlled in a timely fashion

Ensure that the systems and procedures employed to control cash and the accurate and timely recording of the Company's activities are fit for purpose and look for ways to improve these where necessary.

Ensure that effective budgetary controls are in place and that effective financial disciplines are in operation throughout the Company.

Ensure that the credit control procedures are appropriate to ensure the timely collection of all debts and minimise the risk of bad debts.

manage the process of the accurate and timely payment of employee wages and maintain accurate employee records.

Ensure the recording and payment of all taxes, duties etc and that the Company remains compliant with all financial regulations

Perform weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual accounting activities including producing routine and adhoc reports of Key Performance Indicators and management accounts which accurately report the Company's activities.

Present the financial and other Company information to the external auditors in order for them to complete the annual audit and prepare the Company's statutory accounts.

Prepare the annual 2 year profit plan and adhoc forecasts for the Company's directors.

Prepare a weekly cash flow analysis and cash flow forecast.

Arrange competitive funding for capital purchases and supply the required information to funders for periodic audits of existing finance agreements

Assist other managers to comply with legal regulations including in relation to HR activities.

Attend periodic management meetings to report on the financial data of the Company and to participate in management discussions to address issues, improve performance levels and controls, and generally manage the business.

Assist the Sales and Operations management in the contract costing and quotation activities.

Qualifications and skills

7 + Years accounting experience covering all aspects of financial and management accounting

Expertise with Sage Accounting and Payroll systems or similar.

Excellent computer skills in MS Office, accounting software and databases.

Excellent organisational, problem solving, project management and communication skills
