The role of Infrastructure Technician is to support my clients Group's physical and virtual IT Infrastructure; core business applications and the IT support functions which maintain them.

The IT environment consists of 100+ servers and 1500+ workstations spread across multiple locations in the UK and continental Europe.

The role is responsible for supporting and developing the existing infrastructure alongside the Infrastructure Lead, the COO and CEO of the business in line with the business requirements. This will include the support and development of - but not limited to - Active Directory and Exchange environment, VMware support, maintenance and development of associated Microsoft and Linux based virtualised environments as well as the physical server estate, internal networks and network security. The role offers exposure to most areas of infrastructure support including support of both physical and cloud-based infrastructure (AWS, OCI, Azure/O365), as well as contact with Oracle database support.

Main Duties will include:
  • Proactively work with customer companies to engineer and provide adequate solutions that meet their needs
  • Work closely with management to ensure targets are met and customers are happy
  • Assist the wider group in the creation of policies and procedures where required
  • Maintain and develop the existing Active Directory and Exchange infrastructure utilising your technical skills
  • Working in partnership with IT support by acting as an escalation point
  • Support of the existing VMware environment
  • Maintain, develop and support Microsoft environments/systems
  • Maintain, develop and support Linux/Unix environments/systems
  • Working in partnership with the Telephony team to support the Cisco telephony solution by acting as an escalation point
  • Support and development of the existing Network environments

Key Skills:
  • Experience of Windows 2008-2019 server management;
  • Experience of Linux server management (RHEL, AMI, OEL);
  • Experience with AWS, Azure and/or OCI is advantageous;
  • Experience with Office 365/Exchange Online;
  • Experience with on-premises Exchange and SCCM;
  • Domain Management (Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP);
  • Networking experience (HP, Watchguard, TCP/IP Stack);
  • Experience with various types of physical servers, SAN's and network switches;
  • Experience with VMware vSphere;
  • Experience with or exposure to databases is advantageous;
  • Experience of working in an Infrastructure/SysAdmin team;
  • Good interpersonal skills;
  • Good spoken English and a positive telephone manner;
  • Good written English.
