As our Apprentice Engineer, you will become qualified to enable you to carry out routine planned maintenance and operation of the Viridor's assets as directed by the Asset Optimisation Team, to the standard set and agreed by the Engineering and Maintenance Team. These assets include but are not limited to spark and compression ignition internal combustion engines, gas turbines, PV, LFG flares/gas plants, gas holders, compressors, and all electrical and mechanical ancillary equipment.
Working within the Power Generation Team as an Apprentice Engineer, you also ensure that all housekeeping is maintained to expected levels at all Powergen sites, including environmental, health and safety legislation. The production and maintenance of accurate records of tasks and work will also be a key responsibility.
The Apprentice Engineer assist with contractor control when required, ensure tools and equipment are maintained and spare parts are available as required and work to identify and help resolve problems as they may arise.
With a positive can-do attitude, a willingness to learn and demonstrable commitment to the Apprenticeship Scheme, we will provide full support and training that helps you to develop experience and an understanding of the waste industry, maintenance and engineering,
We're looking for an Apprentice Engineer who has an interest in general engineering, full driving license, a minimum of five GCSE's (Grade C/5 or above) including Maths, English and Science. The successful person will also demonstrate a good standard of Microsoft Office, have strong organisational skills, able to work to deadlines and is highly self-motivated.
This position will require response to plant and equipment breakdowns both during normal working hours and outside of normal working hours as appropriate.
