Our client

Our client is an ambitious and growing optical retailer who are looking to bring in a new regional manager to lead their stores in the South East. They currently have sites in Surrey and Hampshire but as they expand, this will likely include London too.

The role

In many respects, this is a standard area management role - you will manage a team of store managers to deliver great results through delivering great service. Engagement and working collaboratively are key themes of this business. My client is looking for someone to join them on their journey as they grow through a combination of acquisitions and identifying and developing new revenue streams.

Where this differs from a standard corporate role is that you'll be working for an SME, and as such you will have a voice - your ideas can be put into action quickly with full head office support. The MD won't just be a name on a trading report, he's regularly out in stores making sure that every decision the board makes translates to the front line and enables the store teams to deliver the standards and service their customers deserve and demand. You'll also work closely with the marketing team to grow your customer base.

The candidate

Experience in the following areas is key:

* Managing managers, ideally in an area manager capacity although GMs of very large stores may also be considered

* Developing people and teams

* Working in a consultative sales environment - our client's focus is on delivering exceptional service rather than volume transactions

* Communicating brand values and strategy at a tactical level

* Agile thinking - the ability and confidence to make bold decisions and take action expediently.

The package

The role will pay £45-50k plus company car and a very competitive package which includes: an incentive scheme, contributory pension, cash health plan, etc.
