Employment Lawyer - £40,000 to £45,000 (DOE) + Benefits - Reading, UK

The Role

At Hewetts Solicitors, we are looking for a capable and experienced Employment Lawyer of at least 3 years PQE to work for our small but very well-established firm in Reading. You would be acting as employment lawyer for claimants and respondents, employees and employers, offering ongoing advice for employer clients under retainers (including TUPE advice), and drafting policies, employment contracts etc.

A full-time would be preferable, but we can also offer a part-time contract with flexible work hours for the right candidate. Work will be split between our Reading office and remote working from home, but you must be comfortable with any commute you will need to take.

The key responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
  • Securing and running your own case load
  • Working with the Firm to bring in work
  • Actively advertising for work including networking
  • Building your own client base
  • Performing any other duties as required of you

We are specifically positioned as a high-street firm aimed at offering bespoke legal advice to individuals and businesses in the Thames Valley (although we do have many clients nationwide).

The Person

The key skills and qualities required are:
  • At least 3 years' PQE and must be satisfied running and building the employment law department;
  • Confident in autonomously securing and running their own case load, with strong organisational and analytical skills;
  • Competent with computers and IT;
  • Happy with any commute they must undertake.
